Description: The 1966 Velocette LE Mk III was the final generation of one of Britains strangest, cleverest, and most misunderstood motorcycles. By 1966, the LE had evolved into a refined little utility machine that was very different from the big thumping British singles people normally associate with Velocette,LE stood for 'Little Engine'. It was introduced in 1948 as a radically modern commuter motorcycle aimed at ordinary people rather than sporting riders. It used a horizontally opposed (boxer) twincylinder layout, similar in principle to later BMW twins but much smaller. The cylinders stuck out sideways, keeping the centre of gravity low and improving smoothness,Many were acquired by Police forces around the country hence the nickname 'Noddy Bikes', as they were quiet and could appear round the corner with little warning allowing patrolling constables to silently coast into alleyways or sneak up on localised crime in a manner only surpassed by traditional bicycles,This example has been stored for a number of years and is presented in Police trim, although we are unsure whether it did see service,Supplied with a current V5C, correctly classed as Historic, and would be a fun project returning it to the road as is or commencing a full restoration,Being offered without reserve,
