It was designed for highspeed sport touring and, in 1979, featured significant updates over earlier models, including the transition from wirespoke wheels to cast aluminium snowflake wheels and the adoption of a rear disc brake, replacing the earlier drum setup,The RS Motorsport was identical mechanically to the RS but differed by being finished in Motorsport White with M Divisions signature red and twotone blue stripes, a red headlamp surround and a blue vinyltrimmed seat pad,The models history is not clear but its suggested that it was commissioned by an Austrian dealer who later cancelled the order. The 150 bikes were taken up by a UK distributor and sold in the UK. Subsequently 200 were sold in the US,This bike was imported from Cape Town last year and prior to arriving, was rebuilt by a wellknown South African BMW enthusiast.
