Genuine unmolested Greeves Scottish

RiponWe are really pleased to offer this fabulous 1958 Greeves 197cc 20TA Scottish TrialsThe frame number dates it to October 1958 and is fitted with its original engine.Greeves unorthodox trademarks of a cast beam downtube and rubberintorsion leadinglink fork proved adaptable to almost all forms of motorcycle from humble commuter to clubmans roadracer, but it was the firms offroad products that really put it on the map. The offroad range was extensively revised for 1958, gaining new frames with increased ground clearance together with a narrower rear subframe and swinging arm. Villiers 197cc 9E sports engine was used for both the Scottish trials and Hawkstone scrambler, suitably modified to suit the particular application. The name Scottish had been adopted following Jack Simpsons victory in the Scottish Six Days Trials 200cc category in 1957, the first year Greeves had fielded a factory team in this prestigious event, but it would be 1969 before the Essex firm took the premier award, courtesy of Billy Wilkinson. Our Scottish is in fantastic overall condition and in substantially original condition, unlike many of its fellows that have been extensively modified, frequently crashed, and unsympathetically maintained over the years. Not used in recent years, a light recommission would be required to be put into useA rare find
