Mercedes Ipswich used to be the best dealership in Essex when Matt Waghorn & Clancy Price ran the service department, but since Matt moved dealerships and Clancy left Mercedes Stratstone, the service and after care is gone way down the pan, you can't get through to service best of times, then you eventually get transferred to a call centre who take a message and you can then wait ages for a call back if at all, before I could ring or email Clancy or Matt direct and anything I asked of them was always done in record time, I've had calls unreturned, emails ignored from one person in service and then had to deal with someone else as a result, recently it took over a month from first concern to get the car in saying there was no loan cars available. When Clancy and Matt ran the service department I often rang up with an issue and it was always the same reply, bring your car in straight away and we will have a loan car waiting for you, the service was always impeccable and outstanding. I was in fact so impressed with the care I always got through Ipswich that through Matts recommendation I bought a 73 plate car in December 2025 and then a 75 plate in February 2026 thinking the after care would always be there for me when need be. I eventually got the car in with a loan car and thankfully the failed parts were covered by the manufacturer warranty, but while on the ramp another issue was found with a badly damaged engine tray cover so I gave instruction to replace it, I was then informed they couldn't get the part to fit due to other damage behind it, my wife collected the car and the old parts and the new part were left in the car with back seats down which looked a right old sight in the photo that was sent to me, this is not how a car should be handed back from a prestigious dealership. I messaged the dealership about it and once again I got no reply and again was ignored, so I took the car to another dealership and they confirmed the aluminium connecting carriers that are attached to the crossmember behind the engine tray were scuff damaged probably from catching a high speed-bump or else something may have caught the underneath tray on a motorway journey, so they ordered the parts and replaced the aluminium connecting carriers and fitted a new engine tray next day. Now that's how it's done, and that's how it used to be done at Ipswich when Matt & Clancy were steering the ship, it's such a shame that the standards have dropped so much in such a short space of time. I've always said it and I used to say it to Clancy, a company is only as good as the people who work there, I've been using Mercedes main dealer since I bought my first Mercedes back in 2004 and then when I moved from London to Colchester I used Mercedes Colchester which was then owned by Jardine and then when I moved again I starting using Ipswich Mercedes, and up until recently I was always very happy with the level of service received at all dealerships, but especially Ipswich, We need to get Matthew Waghorn back at Ipswich. I would also like to give again a special mention to Jess Oxlade as she is amazing and has always over-delivered both in her time in service and again running the garage, she is the prime example of how you look after a customer, she always goes above and beyond to deliver exceptional service and after care. Finally the overall best award for outstanding service goes once again to Kevin Duggan Senior Sales who is without a doubt the best asset Mercedes Ipswich currently has, if we had another Kevin & Jess in service then we would have the perfect after care team. I hope my honest review is taking on board and the after care standards are raised back up to where they used to be. You will see all my previous Mercedes reviews were 5 star positive, so it hurt me greatly to write this out of nothing more than disappointment. I never thought I would be writing a neutral review about Mercedes as all my previous experiences were exceptional, but I felt after my recent experience it had to said or else nothing will change or improve in service or the after care. I'm extremely sorry to write this, but after the amount of money I've spent over the years on Mercedes cars and to maintain them at dealership level I felt disappointed enough to speak out. I just wish it was another 5 star review I was writing instead of the above, and out of loyalty to the brand I'm still giving Ipswich 4 stars. I just hope my next review will be 5 stars again and only Mercedes can ensure this going forward. Best Wishes 😊 Keith
