I'm genuinely appalled - I didn't think a big company like Evans Halshaw would actually try to scam us like this. We were directed to Evans Halshaw for a car warranty repair. We had to wait nearly 2 weeks for an appointment for a simple issue. Staff were so rude upon arrival because we went to the "wrong desk". We were eventually told that despite having a warranty, we would have to agree to pay £156 for a diagnostic if the warranty refused to cover this... £156 is absolutely ridiculous for this service, (later confirmed by another garage who only charge £25 for this). £156 is actually above the limit that the warranty covers; so why are you asking customers to pay more than you'd claim from the warranty company? We found out why... Despite verbally telling us the cause is mechanical failure, Evan Halshaw wrongly reported the cause as wear and tear (which the warranty obviously won't cover). My guess is they did this on purpose because they know they'd get paid more if the warranty refused to pay out. Surprise surprise, the warranty company refused to pay out, and we were left unable to start a new claim for the same issue. So Evans Halshaw had invalidated our warranty, left us with £156 to pay, and the repair was still not done. They told us on the phone that we would not be able to pick the car up until the £156 is paid, they also offered us the privilege of paying for the repair as well! This is after THEM doing the diagnostic wrong. We spent hours on the phone to them over the course of 3 DAYS, and we were left without a car the whole time... they didn't give a monkeys. We eventually threatened to use another garage, they jumped at the chance to wash their hands of the mess they'd made and backed down. When collecting the car, they were intimidating, sarcastic and tried to make us feel guilty. They also refused to tell us where they had parked it, the car park is huge and it was the final kick in the teeth to make us search the whole car park. Dashcam footage from the repair showed that they actually took it back into the garage exactly when we arrived, only to drive it back out 20 mins later, making us wait even longer for nothing. There was also other footage missing from the dashcam. We also got the car back with 20 miles less fuel than when we dropped it off, which is strange considering there's dashcam footage missing. Another garage did the simple repair for us the same day with no issues whatsoever. Overall, Evans Halshaw is utterly despicable, I would avoid them like the plague, I would never use them for repairs or car purchases if this is how they treat people.
Poor service and selling practice. Used EV sale -> car was with sensors fault at hand over at the dealership and I notified them about it during hand over, their response "it will, resolve itself with driving and updates" -> 6 months + multiple complaints + failed attempt to fix it, after, the car presented more issues that a car that has been checked and maintained properly shouldn't present -> EH avoided liability, offered to try again to fix the sensors only, while I had to special tow my car to the official Tesla dealership where i paid for the repairs, had an amazing support and service and updates throughout the service/repairs process and even fixed the sensors as courtesy although they didnt had to as the extra faults were detected while the car was in their garage. Never again at EH for me.
Due to the fuel crisis we decided to buy an Hyundai electric car. We visited Evan Halshaw, Aylestone, Leicester and were assisted by Thuli Banda who was really helpful, friendly and professional. As a woman I have experienced some pretty patronising car sales guys in the past, which is why I found it so good to be assisted by a relaxed, capable and friendly woman. So, any women out there who want to buy a car might also enjoy the experience to going to Evans Halshaw to buy a great car from a woman sales person.
