Absolutely terrible customer service from Evans Halshaw BYD in Chesterfield I bought a used vehicle (not a BYD) from them, because I paid cash no finance involved and because I didn’t want any of their add ins which obviously earn them commission they weren’t interested in the slightest. I was promised a free guard ex protection in and out (not done) I found personal items from a previous owner in the glove box, ad-blue hadn’t been topped up, the pressures not done upon collection it was a case of here’s your keys now Buggar off, I tried putting in a complaint they finally responded to my first email but not my second. For me buying that car was a big deal they completely ruined the whole experience with their poor attitude simply because they probably weren’t earning much commission out of me.
My local dealer was quoting a further 3 months i.e 6 months on total to look at my car for a rattling boot and other warranty issues. I was passing and popped in to Evans Halshall Hyundai in Warrington. To my surprise they stated 2 weeks. So dropped the car off on the 27th December 2025. Picked it up the same day and they told me that it would all be under warranty and they would be in touch when the parts were in. It’s now the 31 March 2026 and they have not returned a single call!!! I have left messages and web messages etc and I have heard nothing. The last time I called I refused to hang up as I told them that no one has called me back so I was cut off. Called back immediately and the guy admitted cutting me off. Asked to speak to the manager I was told no she was busy. Raised a complaint with Hyundai Uk and Evan’s Halshall. All i have had back is an apology from Evan’s halshaw stating they would speak with the managers. Absolute joke of a dealership.
Disgusting company.Tried to buy a brand new van advertised on Autotrader.Price ended up being £3500 more than advertised due to not being vat registered even though I was paying the vat in full. The advert stated it had a heated steering wheel. It did not.Advert said 5 free services."Sorry sir that offer has ended",even though it's still in the advert. After finally doing a deal and being told the van would be ready to collect in 5 days, they then rang me up to say that there was a recall on the tyres and they couldn't register the van because Ford wouldn't let them.Left it a week and a half to be still told that they didn't know when they could register my van.Got so fed up waiting and paying for a hire van(which there was no offer to pay for) that I cancelled the order.I now take delivery of a Ford transit on Thursday saving £5000 in the process. If you want to be lied to and have no customer service then use Evans Halshaw Van Centre Preston.Avoid like the plague.
Went to Evans Halshaw in York. Absolutely brilliant. If you ever go to this showroom, ask for Kieran, that bloke is awesome. Nothing was too much trouble. Even rang him on his own mobile late in the evening when I had a problem with my EV charger and he sorted it. He even drove to my house in Withernsea with a granny charger because mine was late being delivered. I honestly cannot praise them enough.
Probably the best car buying experience I've had! I'm always slightly anxious about purchasing a car, especially after a previous attempt with a different dealer. However, Linda was fantastic from my initial phone call to ask questions about the car, all the way through to collection. Thank you Linda!!
AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP - Bought a Ford Fiesta ST-Line X from Evans Halshaw Motherwell in April 2025 for £11,658, including a £549 home delivery fee. At point of sale I was told the car had undergone a 123-point mechanical check and was in good condition. I relied on that assurance when deciding not to take out the Extended Guarantee also offered. Less than a year later the car went in for its first service and MOT at Evans Halshaw Cardiff. Their own technicians flagged over £660 of urgent work including leaking VCT solenoids and an exhaust emissions fault — every single item explicitly listed in Evans Halshaw's own published 123-point checklist. I paid this out of pocket. The car then failed its MOT on emissions. Evans Halshaw Cardiff investigated further and found that a flexi pipe had been previously fitted to the exhaust before I bought the car — incorrectly fitted and too long, allowing gases to escape. This is physical evidence of a botched repair carried out before sale. A replacement catalyst converter is now required at £1,698.17. When I raised a formal complaint with Evans Halshaw Motherwell, their Used Car Sales Leader Marc King rejected it three times — including after being presented with written confirmation of the prior botched repair from their own Cardiff technicians. He even confirmed in writing that the Extended Guarantee "would have covered several of the components" — effectively admitting these are not wear and tear items. Their final position is that they bear no liability whatsoever. I have now submitted a formal case to the Motor Ombudsman and a Subject Access Request under GDPR for the completed 123-point inspection report, which Evans Halshaw have not acknowledged. Total repairs stand at £2,358.58 — on a car purchased less than a year ago. Avoid this dealership.
