Appalling post-sale experience with Car World. The car they sold me was faulty and not fit for purpose. Very little support and help in getting it fixed. Mostly non-responsive of emails and when I get someone on the phone they can't help and have to get back to us. I have legally rejected the car after their failed attempts to fix it. First they tried to refuse my rejection which is a breach of the consumer right act. Its now been over 2 months since my purchase and they still have my money and my car. Since my rejection they have completely failed to return my funds within the statutory 14-day window. While Car World have now accepted the vehicle's rejection they are now trying to reduce the amount they are refunding. Instead of complying with the law, they have attempted to stall the process by demanding an unlawful, punitive usage fee of 45p per mile and refusing to cover the independent diagnostic costs required to find the safety defect which their garage failed to identify and correct. Furthermore, when we purchased the vehicle we paid Β£415.83 for the car to be serviced and both Halfords and the Volvo garage through their diagnostics work have said that the car has not been serviced. As they have breached their legally binding deadlines and ignored my Final Notice Before Action, official legal proceedings have now been initiated via small claims court to recover my money, alongside a formal report to Trading Standards Avoid this dealership if you value your safety, your money, and your consumer rights.
The service was excellent no hard selling by staff, left to look at the cars on site. When I had selected a car the sales rep Scott talked me through the cars history. Then he clearly set out purchasing options and extended warranties ETC. I had been to other car show rooms in Peterborough but was deterred by the had sell. I would highly recommend Car World if your looking for a car in the City.
Donβt trust AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID I bought a car from them for 55,000 with a warranty, and it had a problem the same day I bought it. They didn't pay me for the repair spent Β£3000 and didn't even answer my calls. They're liars. Before the purchase, they are so kind, but after the purchase and payment, they become a completely different person. They deserve less than one star.
Update - Carworld eventually agreed that they had sold me a faulty car. They couldnβt really dispute it after I spent Β£200 on a main dealer diagnostic which included a video where they pointed out the fake sensor which was causing car to breakdown. I got my money back for the car, but only after starting a s75 dispute against my credit card, sending a lot of legal emails, crying several times on the phone, negging them on review sites and after my partner went into their store on a Saturday and made a loud fuss over how dodgy they are. Donβt let these guys fob you off if you have bought a dodgy car from them. Their βrejection policyβ does not reflect consumer law. Donβt let them bodge repairs or delay your rejection so it falls beyond the 30 day window, which seems to be their tactic. I was very lucky that my car failed so soon after purchase and I had part paid on credit card, so I had maximum consumer protection. Even so, I had three weeks of huge stress and worry about getting my Β£14,000 back, while also not having a car to take my kids to school and get myself to work. During that entire period no manager spoke with me. Even after my partner drove the faulty car 80 miles back to Peterborough and went into the branch no manager was prepared to speak with him. I genuinely felt bad for their after sales team as it must be pretty grim having to deal with upset and angry customers if management refuse to speak to them. Iβm now trying to get CarWorld to agree to at least pickup the Β£200 main dealer diagnostic report fee as I shouldnβt be left out of pocket when they sold me a faulty car which broke down within two weeks. I only had to get an independent report as they were claiming engine failure was βwear and tearβ from an old battery when I had barely driven the car. I have also paid penalties for cancelling my insurance and parking permit. Carworld have started ghosting me so I am going to bring a claim for the money out of principle. I very strongly recommend others to avoid this place. It has genuinely been one of the most stressful experiences I have ever had and Iβm now very nervous about buying any other car. It is a lottery to buy something from here. The cars are cheap but they donβt properly check them before sale - mine looked immaculate but hade a fake sensor causing engine faults and also had a leaking coolant tank, which should definitely have been seen and fixed before sale. Keep going if you are trying to get your money back from CarWorld. Trading Standards must have a considerable file on these guys, so Im sure they want to avoid court . I found it reassuring that others had been through the same process and some reviews said they were successful - so thank you for those honest reviews.
This company is a complete shower of crap!! Whatever you do donβt put down a reservation fee which is supposed to be refundable as they do everything they can to not refund it!! Been waiting 2 weeks now being lied to, the store deals, the accounts deals etc.. the cars need to be looked at closely before you buy!!!
I purchased a car from Big Motoring World expecting it to be reliable, but shortly after buying it, serious faults started appearing. I had to pay for diagnostic checks myself just to confirm the issues, which was already frustrating and costly. The biggest disappointment was the warranty and aftersales process. Despite the faults being genuine and professionally diagnosed, I was constantly passed between different people and departments, with nobody taking responsibility or giving clear answers. Communication was poor, and I spent more time chasing updates than actually getting help. In the end, the warranty provider and dealership refused to properly cover the repairs, leaving me out of pocket after already paying for diagnostics myself. I also felt my consumer rights were completely ignored throughout the process, despite the car developing faults so soon after purchase. The whole experience has been stressful, expensive, and incredibly time-consuming. I would strongly advise anyone considering buying from Big Motoring World to carefully check what their warranty actually covers and be aware of your consumer rights if anything goes wrong.
Monika was a great sales person, very accommodating and professional. She made the whole process from looking at the car to test driving it to the whole finance, payment and car pick up very easy and straightforward. She and Stuart are a treasure to CARWORLD and i would gladly recommend them over and over..
Just wanted to say I had a really smooth experience with Carworld. The whole team was friendly, professional and helpful from start to finish, but Scott especially was amazing throughout the process. He took the time to answer all my questions, kept everything straightforward and made the experience stress-free. Really happy with the service and the car. Would definitely recommend Carworld, especially Scott π
