Update - Carworld eventually agreed that they had sold me a faulty car. They couldn’t really dispute it after I spent £200 on a main dealer diagnostic which included a video where they pointed out the fake sensor which was causing car to breakdown. I got my money back for the car, but only after starting a s75 dispute against my credit card, sending a lot of legal emails, crying several times on the phone, negging them on review sites and after my partner went into their store on a Saturday and made a loud fuss over how dodgy they are. Don’t let these guys fob you off if you have bought a dodgy car from them. Their “rejection policy” does not reflect consumer law. Don’t let them bodge repairs or delay your rejection so it falls beyond the 30 day window, which seems to be their tactic. I was very lucky that my car failed so soon after purchase and I had part paid on credit card, so I had maximum consumer protection. Even so, I had three weeks of huge stress and worry about getting my £14,000 back, while also not having a car to take my kids to school and get myself to work. During that entire period no manager spoke with me. Even after my partner drove the faulty car 80 miles back to Peterborough and went into the branch no manager was prepared to speak with him. I genuinely felt bad for their after sales team as it must be pretty grim having to deal with upset and angry customers if management refuse to speak to them. I’m now trying to get CarWorld to agree to at least pickup the £200 main dealer diagnostic report fee as I shouldn’t be left out of pocket when they sold me a faulty car which broke down within two weeks. I only had to get an independent report as they were claiming engine failure was “wear and tear” from an old battery when I had barely driven the car. I have also paid penalties for cancelling my insurance and parking permit. Carworld have started ghosting me so I am going to bring a claim for the money out of principle. I very strongly recommend others to avoid this place. It has genuinely been one of the most stressful experiences I have ever had and I’m now very nervous about buying any other car. It is a lottery to buy something from here. The cars are cheap but they don’t properly check them before sale - mine looked immaculate but hade a fake sensor causing engine faults and also had a leaking coolant tank, which should definitely have been seen and fixed before sale. Keep going if you are trying to get your money back from CarWorld. Trading Standards must have a considerable file on these guys, so Im sure they want to avoid court . I found it reassuring that others had been through the same process and some reviews said they were successful - so thank you for those honest reviews.
This company is a complete shower of crap!! Whatever you do don’t put down a reservation fee which is supposed to be refundable as they do everything they can to not refund it!! Been waiting 2 weeks now being lied to, the store deals, the accounts deals etc.. the cars need to be looked at closely before you buy!!!
I purchased a car from Big Motoring World expecting it to be reliable, but shortly after buying it, serious faults started appearing. I had to pay for diagnostic checks myself just to confirm the issues, which was already frustrating and costly. The biggest disappointment was the warranty and aftersales process. Despite the faults being genuine and professionally diagnosed, I was constantly passed between different people and departments, with nobody taking responsibility or giving clear answers. Communication was poor, and I spent more time chasing updates than actually getting help. In the end, the warranty provider and dealership refused to properly cover the repairs, leaving me out of pocket after already paying for diagnostics myself. I also felt my consumer rights were completely ignored throughout the process, despite the car developing faults so soon after purchase. The whole experience has been stressful, expensive, and incredibly time-consuming. I would strongly advise anyone considering buying from Big Motoring World to carefully check what their warranty actually covers and be aware of your consumer rights if anything goes wrong.
Monika was a great sales person, very accommodating and professional. She made the whole process from looking at the car to test driving it to the whole finance, payment and car pick up very easy and straightforward. She and Stuart are a treasure to CARWORLD and i would gladly recommend them over and over..
Just wanted to say I had a really smooth experience with Carworld. The whole team was friendly, professional and helpful from start to finish, but Scott especially was amazing throughout the process. He took the time to answer all my questions, kept everything straightforward and made the experience stress-free. Really happy with the service and the car. Would definitely recommend Carworld, especially Scott 👍
I visited Carworld's Peterborough site on a busy Saturday afternoon and I had an excellent experience. I came by train and if was a comfortable 30 minute walk along the city's cycle paths. I was welcomed by a sales adviser Monika, who was knowledgeable, attuned to my needs, had good humour and gave me a little time to browse a couple of options and made really good suggestions without ever being pushy or impatient. She was juggling me with two other customers but gave me attention when I needed it. The site itself was nicely laid out and the two five-year-old cars I looked at were so immaculately presented that they both looked brand new.
