Purchased a car in November 2024 from the Linwood branch, within 12 hours we had problems. In the first month we had engine management lights, windows not going up leaving car unsecure and the car failing to start. After constant back and forth repairs and downright insulting emails (including that its unavoidable for such issues come up when buying a car) they offered no redress. This after selling a faulty car, failing to repair it for over a year and atrocious customer service from Linwood and the Exec team. During the entire complaint, I said I was scared this would prevent me being there for my dad who had a terminal disease if the car fails, how important it was that the car i purchased be fit for purpose, they knew this, and it did fail both the night he had a stroke and the night he passed in January this year. He was already gone by the time I got a lift from other family members. Repeating that cars are complex is all they do, they feel that multiple failed attempts at fixing the faulty car and providing a courtesy car was enough but I wouldn't have needed this had the car not had issues from day 1. If they do reply to this, it will either be a generic one or a dismissive one, I'm used to it from them. Complaint reference 540177.
Did you ever wonder how much a "free" MOT costs? My MOT was included in the service plan. It failed with a split in a ball joint rubber and I was quoted £329 for a new steering link arm replacement. I took the car away and bought the part from Euro Car Parts for £32 and fitted it in 30 minutes. Fed up with blatant profiteering, I abandoned Arnold and took the car to another MOT station where it passed. Part of the reason for going elsewhere is Arnold Clark's inability to give a fixed time slot for anything to do with servicing, which means for me two days without a car and £48 in taxi fares. No contest, use your head, or your local garage.
This is the second time buying a car through Arnold Clark. I really can't fault them at all. From the moment I reserved the car, the representative was efficient; they kept in touch throughout the viewing and eventually the sale. They answered questions and kept us in the loop about our purchase.
