I recently bought my car from Arnold Clark and had a great experience from start to finish. Simon, the salesman who helped me, was brilliant throughout the whole process. He was friendly, helpful, and made everything feel easy and straightforward. Simon gave me excellent service and really made the experience a positive one. From my first call to enquire about the car until I drove it home was all completed within 24 hours. Superb service from start to finish. Replaced my wife’s car at Grangemouth branch in March and the experience was so good I didn’t hesitate to visit South Street when replacing my own car. I was let down majorly and would not recommend this branch. My trade-in was on a personal loan, it was my understanding that I was doing a cash sale of my car and buying their car. The sales invoice was annotated with the value of my car as “cash back”. At handover I supplied service history, keys and V5. When I asked about the funds transfer I mentioned the Arnold Clark website says bank transfer in 3 working days. I was told “yeah something like that I’ll confirm”. I had to message to chase this confirmation and I was told “ once the car has been paid out by the finance company there going to send you a check which can take up to 7-10 days” - not the 3 business days as expected, nor could I understand what the finance on my new car has to do with the cash sale of my old car. After 6 business days I got in contact to confirm the payment process asking why it wasn’t the 3 business days as per website. I was told they needed my bank details for transfer which I immediately sent. Eventually 9 business days from selling my car I got paid. This I’ve been told was down to them waiting on my V5. Which I gave them at handover! £9200 payment delayed from 3 business days to 9 business days~ 13 days in total! For this I was offered “sincere apologies” Car was not presented to the cleanliness level I expected when compared to the car I bought in Grangemouth. Headlining grubby, hoovering of interior done poorly still mess round the seat rails. Boot not cleaned to decent standard. For this I was offered a rebate of £50 if I took it to a valet of my choice. £50 wouldn’t get the car to the expected standard. A coat hook in the rear of the car was snapped and I was told this would be fixed prior to sale. It was not and the part hadn’t been ordered. Maintenance items are also overdue on the cars service schedule. I would NOT recommend this dealer. Go elsewhere.
