Choose from Hyundai BAYON trims
Thinking of getting a Hyundai Bayon?
Why should you get the Hyundai Bayon?
The Hyundai Bayon is a small SUV with a very roomy interior and lots of tech features to make your journeys easier. It’s great value and really enjoyable to drive, feeling more like a regular hatchback than an SUV and giving you a comfortable ride, even over rougher roads.
Hyundai Bayon range and updates
The Bayon was introduced in 2021. It has a practical five-door body and all models are powered by a 1.0-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine. A slightly more powerful version of that engine is available in top-spec models, should you want a bit more zip to the driving experience. You have the choice of a manual or automatic gearbox across the range, and you can choose from three feature-packed trim levels, called SE Connect, Premium and Ultimate.
Hyundai Bayon tech and features
All Bayon models are very well equipped with features to keep you informed, entertained and comfortable. Features include an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, which lets you hook up your smartphone and use your apps through the car’s touchscreen. There’s also a digital driver’s display behind the steering wheel, instead of traditional dials. Air con, cruise control and parking sensors are fitted throughout the range, while high-spec models have extra features including a bigger screen with built-in sat nav, and heated seats and steering wheel for those chilly winter mornings.
Hyundai Bayon running costs and value
The Bayon can give you an official average of around 53mpg, so won’t cost you much in fuel and tax. That efficiency is helped by the standard mild-hybrid system. It’s also extremely good value, given how much equipment is included as standard.
Hyundai Bayon vs rivals
There are a lot of other small SUVs you can choose from including the Skoda Kamiq, Ford Puma and Suzuki Vitara. The Bayon offers lots of space and generous amounts of equipment, and if you’re more used to driving a hatchback than an SUV, you’ll find that the experience is very similar. You might also be a fan of Bayon’s distinctive looks, which make it stand out from the crowd.
Hyundai Bayon common questions
How practical is the Hyundai Bayon?
The Bayon is roomy enough that you could use it as a family car (as long as you don’t have more than three kids). Four tall adults fit easily, which is unusual for a car of this size. Headroom in the back is particularly good and you can just about squeeze three adults across the back seat on those occasions when you need to carry an extra passenger. That means that children of any age won’t be short of space.
The boot is a good size too – a pushchair or a few big suitcases will slot in easily. There are handy storage compartments inside, including large door pockets, cupholders and a deep cubby hole in front of the gear lever – perfect for storing your odds and ends.
How does the Bayon compare with other Hyundai models?
The Bayon is Hyundai’s smallest SUV, although the next-in-line Kona isn’t that much bigger. You sit higher up in the Kona, more like a traditional SUV than a hatchback, and it’s available as an electric car too. If you need a lot more space, look at Hyundai’s larger SUVs, such as the five-seat Tucson or the seven-seat Santa Fe.
How safe is the Hyundai Bayon?
The Bayon scored four stars out of five in tests by safety organisation Euro NCAP, although most rivals scored the full five stars. However; the Bayon still comes with loads of the latest safety features as standard, including automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist.
Are there any hybrid versions of the Hyundai Bayon?
All Bayon models are mild hybrids. They have an extra electrical system that works with the petrol engine to improve fuel economy and CO2 emissions, but you can’t drive on electric power alone like you can with ‘full’ hybrids and plug-in hybrids.
