Different generations of used Cupra Born

Still in its inaugural generation, the CUPRA Born was first manufactured in 2021. Since then, the sleek, stylish aesthetic of this fully electric hatchback has become recognised by many – leading to burgeoning popularity on the used car market.

Its design shares similarities with the Volkswagen ID.3, but the Born builds on this model through its superior powertrain options and technological advancements.

Powertrains

Now a staple in the Spanish brand's line-up, the Born delivers electrifying performance through its powertrain options.

With a standard-fit automatic transmission, the two main variants offer 150bhp of power and 310Nm of torque or a 204bhp version.

Both drivetrains are capable of pushing that bit further when paired with e-Boost to take performance to the next level: newer e-Boost models can increase output up to 231bhp.

The CUPRA Born's battery range doesn't disappoint, either. Official WLTP test cycles show that 77kWh models can travel up to 343 miles on a single full charge, making it capable of far longer journeys than many of its EV hatchback counterparts.

This is aided by onboard thermal management functionality to ensure optimal battery performance at all times.

Practicality

Complementing its impressive long-range battery, the CUPRA Born also delivers when it comes to comfort and other practical considerations.

DINAMICA® bucket seats provide exceptional lumbar support for the driver and their front passenger, ensuring that long-distance drives are more comfortable than ever and creating a premium feel.

This is reinforced by the steering wheel itself, which comes with a luxury leather cover and buttons for the drive profile and e-Boost functions.

The floor may be slightly higher than an average hatchback, but the cabin still feels roomy and generously proportioned.

Most passengers will find that they have more than enough head and leg room whether they sit in the front or the back. As for the boot, the Born offers 335-litre space extending to 1,267 litres with the back seats down, putting it somewhere towards the middle of the pack for a car of this style. The Renault Megane E-Tech may be a better option for those in need of more boot storage.

Safety

The 2022 CUPRA Born is regarded as being amongst the safest cars on the road and received a resounding five out of five stars in its Euro NCAP test.

Its Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) systems are fitted as standard, offering exceptional car-to-car and vulnerable road user protection. Owners have also found that its lane assist and adaptive cruise control technologies consistently meet the mark.

Technology

Building on its comprehensive suite of driver assist functionalities is the CUPRA Born's top view camera, which offers 360° visibility of your surroundings to support streamlined parking. Similarly, in areas where road markings are poor, the onboard CUPRA Connect system uses data from other road users to draw an imaginary line on your digital cockpit. These next-generation technologies make for a far more advanced driving experience than can be had with other electric hatchbacks of a similar spec.
