The Chevrolet Cruze is a small family car that is big on value. With low running costs, plenty of features and a trusted badge, the Chevrolet Cruze is a popular car for those looking for value.
The Chevrolet Cruze is an auto with a ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ type of history, in that it has been two completely different types of car during its life: the first a tiny compact SUV (also known as the Suzuki Ignis), and the second a mid size family car. The latter models feature bold designs, sharply styled interiors and great value for money, which is why they are among the best American cars currently on British roads.
Chevrolet released the second generation Cruze in 2008, and it has proved quite popular since. Available in 5 door hatchback and 4 door saloon models, you get quite a lot of car for your cash, which is one of the main reasons to consider it in the first place. Spacious, economical and nicely equipped, it’s a leader in its class and is great for families who want a solid car without spending a fortune.
The Cruze is particularly striking from the front end, with a bold grille and headlights that convey its abundance of attitude. There are some nice shapes, strong lines and big windows, and actually it looks like something much more expensive. The interior is nice and spacious, with enough room for 4 adults and no lack of storage space. With a well equipped cockpit that has quite a futuristic look about it, especially with the stylish dashboard, there’s certainly a lot to shout about. Practically isn’t an issue either- the boot is comparatively large and can accommodate shopping and luggage galore.
Again the Chevrolet outperforms it’s ‘value’ stamp with an altogether fantastic driving experience. It’s confident on the road and never looks out of sorts, even when the conditions get tough. A comfy ride, relatively responsive steering and plenty of grip in the corners mean overall it’s nicely poised. There’s also a selection of lively engines, most notably the 1.6 and 1.8 petrol’s, which are quite laid back and relaxed but deliver some decent performance; the 2.0 litre diesel gives you that as well as economy.
Taking everything into account then, the Chevrolet Cruze is a fantastic family car that performs above and beyond its price tag. Nicely styled both inside and out, it’s practical, spacious and more than competent out on the road. You get a brilliant car for your money and it’s almost verging on the upper echelons of this motoring genre. Can you afford not to buy this car?
