AshorneThis lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, Online Auction 12th March on Thursday the 12th of March. , The Background. There are very few cars that can earn world renowned nicknames due to their automotive prowess. To cite a few, we have RUFs 'Yellowbird', 'Mercedes 'Hammer' and Porsches 'Widowmaker', but arguably the best and most iconic automotive nickname in history was given to the Nissan Skyline R32 GTR, rightfully nicknamed Godzilla. The GTR moniker was somewhat of a sacred cow for Nissan having discontinued it in 1973 following their Hakosuka and Kenmari Skylines, but Nissan revived it 16years later with the introduction of the R32 Skyline. The cars heart was Nissans hugely capable RB26DETT, a 2.6 litre, twinturbocharged inline 6cylinder DOHC engine producing the Gentlemans Agreement 276bhp and included all the latest electronic gadgetry including 4wheel drive, HICAS allwheel steering, and multilink suspension. The Godzilla title was gained/earned for two reasons, firstly for its supercar killer performance on the road and secondly for its sheer domination on the racetrack winning every single race (29 out of 29) in the Japanese Grand Touring Championship between 1990 1994, as well as winning the 1991 Spa 24hr and Bathurst 1000 in 1991 and 1992 consecutively. Tour de Force doesnt quite cut it, the R32 GTR was simply unstoppable and unbeatable. The CarThe 1992 example offered here is exceptional having been restored, carefully upgraded, and prepared to an OEM+ standard. The restoration was carried out by the owner and his team within his own body shop and garage, with all engine work and tuning entrusted to Abbey Motorsport, one of the UKs foremost GTR specialists. Originally finished in Gunmetal Grey, it has been professionally resprayed in Skyline Blue, a genuine factory Skyline shade but seldom seen. The quality of the finish is outstanding, and the V5C has been updated to reflect the new colour. The bodywork presents superbly throughout, with clean arches, sills, and underbody showing no signs of corrosion, a testament to the care taken during its rebuild.Under the bonnet lies the legendary RB26DETT, rebuilt by Abbey Motorsport with bills of over £6,500. The focus was a reliable, authentic, and OEMfeeling powertrain, producing comfortably over 300bhp on Abbeys dyno, with full documentation included. Complementing the build are Abbeyupgraded turbos, HKS turbo piping, and a Tomei full titanium exhaust that significantly reduces weight and adds a crisper tone. Under the bonnet there are ultrarare NISMO components including a coilpack cover and front strut brace. The factory GTR seats are in good order, the carpets and door cards are excellent throughout, and a new leather steering wheel subtly refreshes the cabin. The VeilSide 340 kph custom gauge cluster is another ultrarare period touch, and the car retains both its original Carrozzeria CD/MD head unit and an additional Sony unit, with all factory features including the digital climate control functioning correctly.Externally, the car sits on lightweight Enkei RPF1 alloys with red anodised wheel nuts, perfectly complementing the Skyline Blue paintwork. It is accompanied by a comprehensive document folder containing the V5C, service details, receipts, and a full dyno graph set from Abbey Motorsport. For collectors and enthusiasts alike, this R32 represents a lovely blend of originality, tasteful enhancement, and expert mechanical preparation. With its rare colour, detailed Abbey Motorsport provenance, and rustfree bodywork, it stands as one of the most complete and useable examples of Nissans allconquering legend available today.
