1976 Ford Escort 1.6 GL Manual. RHD Import from South Africa which is very solid and original underneath. All tax and duty paid and UK registration has been applied for. Starts runs and drives but will need a bit tinkering to get on the road. We have the original handbook and service book for the vehicle.Body Early 4 Door shell with larger hole strut tops. Original strut tops, pillars, floors, sills, arches. Overall a very original and strong shell. Will need a minor repair on passenger side front floor corner, a repair in spare wheel well and a minor repair on tank well. Otherwise the shell is very original and not been previously welded or botched. Paintwork is perfectly useable. Its no show queen and has a few age related marks, but overall its survived very well.Mechanics Good 1.6 711M block crossflow. Starts fine and is quiet. Runs and drives. Gearbox works as it should, brakes are OK. We do not have any recent history on the car so a basic service as a minimum would be required, and a good checkover. The carb may also need adjusting due to the very different climate.Interior All standard. Drivers seat has split in a few places and would need repaired. Passenger seat and rear seats are good. Good door cards, and headlining. good dashtop. Carpet a bit worn. Wheels Standard steelies with grandma spec hubcaps. Tyres are ditchfindersThis is a great basis for a project being in the main untouched and not a basket case. You are welcome to come and see the car.
