Chelmsford2 Previous Owners, We are pleased to offer this very smart Triumph Roadster finished in British Racing Green with contrasting cream interior.Being a 1949 car, the Triumph is the later TR20 2000 model which featured the more robust Standard Vanguard 2088cc engine, gearbox and back axle. The three speed gearbox is all synchromesh. The Triumph Roadster boasts a number of distinctive features notably three abreast seating on the bench seat, necessitating the use of a column change and the twin rear dickey seats with their own separate windscreen, the Roadster was the last British car to be made with a dickey seat.Early post war steel shortages meant that the body was built from aluminium, using rubber press tools that had been used making panels for the largely wooden fuselage Mosquito bomber that had been built by Standard during the war. Indeed, the distinctive front wings are very reminiscent of Mosquito drop tanks. The British Racing Green paintwork is very well finished indeed and the colour suits the car well. The upholstery is in very good condition as are the brown carpets. The wooden dashboard is also very good with no cracks or peeling veneer. Please also note how good the shut lines are, not the case on many Roadsters. The car is to original specification and the semaphore indicators are in working condition. The fawn double duck hood is also in very good condition and there is also a matching hood bag. The brightwork is all very good too with the exception of some pitting on the front bumper. The Triumph was the subject of a major restoration in the early 2000s and there are photos on file of the work. It was considered to be one of the very best examples of the model at the time and has been well maintained since. The car is a delight to drive with the torquey Vanguard motor, excellent ride and reassuringly effective Lockheed hydraulic brakes. With their distinctive styling and easy manners Triumph Roadsters have been in strong demand in recent years and this fine example is ready to enjoy.A video of the car can be viewed on the St Andrews Autos YouTube channel. For more information and to arrange a viewing please call James on the number provided or contact us via the website. We will happily consider taking an interesting vehicle in part exchange and can arrange nationwide delivery.Thank you for reading.
