Ashorne1 Previous Owner, This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Race Retro 2026 Collectors' Cars on Saturday the 21st of February, Stoneleigh Park, Stoneleigh Rd, Coventry, CV8 2LG. , The Chevrolet Corvette began life in 1953 with the original C1, a car that captured the imagination of postwar America and forced Ford into a prolonged and costly response. However, it was the secondgeneration Corvette the immortal Sting Ray, produced between 1963 and 1967 that truly defined the model and cemented its status as one of the most desirable American sports cars ever built.Designed by Larry Shinoda under the guidance of the legendary Bill Mitchell, the Sting Ray drew inspiration from a fascinating mix of sources, including the Jaguar EType, Mitchells own Mako Shark concept and the experimental Q Corvette. By the late 1950s these ideas had coalesced into the XP720 programme, which ultimately delivered the dramatic, razoredged shape that debuted for 1963. The result was a Corvette that finally matched its performance with styling to rival the best sports cars in the world. This example is a C2 Sting Ray Convertible, fitted with the desirable 327 cubic inch (5.4litre) V8, producing circa 300bhp and paired with a manual gearbox, delivering the engaging driving experience that has made these cars so revered. Finished in Sunfire Yellow over a black leather interior, the colour combination suits the car perfectly and highlights the purity of Shinodas design. The bodywork presents extremely well, with tight panel gaps, straight lines and wellfinished paintwork that allows the distinctive Sting Ray styling to truly shine. The interior is equally impressive, presenting as a well caredfor and correct cabin environment. The Corvette has been in the UK for around ten years, having arrived in 2015, and is now UKregistered with the V5C showing just one previous keeper during its time here. It is accompanied by supporting paperwork which indicates minimal use in the UK, with approximately 1,500 miles covered since arrival. This mileage is understood to include occasional use at promotional events, suggesting a car that has been exercised sparingly rather than stored unused. With its desirable specification, excellent presentation and undeniable road presence, this C2 Sting Ray Convertible represents a fine example of one of the most iconic American sports cars of the 1960s.
