Hand built replica of Steve McQueen Lotus Eleven no 33,Built using Lotus Eleven replica Chassis Hand fabricated unpainted Aluminium body built using English wheel etc, with hand painted roundels and lettering giving an entirely authentic period feel Been completely refurbished with revised chassis with roll over and Side impact bars. 60% new body panels, new interior, rebuilt engine, gearbox, axle, suspension, brakes, wiring loom, fuel system, cooling system (in fact all components are new / refurbished) Steve McQueen owned and raced Lotus Eleven no33 in a number of races in the Santa Barbara area of California in 1959. This replica with the raw aluminium body gives that 1950s / 1960s race car feeling. bought the Lotus as a rolling chassis with the majority of the panels, a tired engine, gearbox and axle in 2013. completely stripped everything from the chassis and refurbished it. Repainting the chassis, adding new aluminium panel felt the chassis was vulnerable from side impact and in a roll over. So designed, had built and fitted a new roll over bar with integrated side impact bars that are hidden high up in the sills. Approximately 40% of the aluminium panels came with the Lotus. refurbished all the panels and built the remaining aluminium panels using hand working techniques. All panels were then tig welded together into the appropriate assemblies. Please be aware that this is a handmade aluminium body without paint. Panels show marking from their manufacture. This is entirely in keeping with the period and gives a fantastic paterna to the car . New red leather and 4 point Willans harnesses. The front suspension is double wishbones. fitted new bearings, new trunnion bushes, installed an anti roll bar and had the coil over Gaz shock absorbers rebuilt. A new quick steering rack was fitted. The steering column was refurbished and a new Moto-lita wooden wheel fitted. The rear suspension is a live rear axle with 4 bar link and a panard rod, this was all refurbished with new bushes. As were the Spax coil over shock absorbers. The suspension and steering set up gives first class handling both on the road and track. A new fuel tank was designed, manufactured and fitted along with new sender, pump and lines. A new wiring loom was fitted along with all new instruments, switches, lights, coil, alternator and a high gear light weight starter motor. A new aluminium radiator was fitted with a high power electric fan and silicon hoses.
