Southwell.1983 Talbot Sunbeam Lotus DAC 110YOffered for sale is this exceptional 1983 Talbot Sunbeam Lotus, a highly collectible late-production Series 2 example from the final and most desirable batch of ‘DAC’ registered cars. A model that needs little introduction amongst rally and fast-Ford era enthusiasts, this superb Sunbeam Lotus has been in the current ownership for the past two years and has now covered just 58,000 miles.Powered by the legendary 2172cc Lotus twin-cam engine, breathing through twin twin-choke Dellorto carburettors and producing a quoted 155bhp, the Sunbeam Lotus delivers the raw, rear-wheel-drive performance that helped secure Talbot the 1981 World Rally Championship Manufacturers’ title. Power is channelled through the desirable 5-speed ZF gearbox and ‘Skip Brown’ limited-slip differential, while this example also benefits from being a non-sunroof car, a specification particularly favoured by marque purists. In 2017, the car underwent a comprehensive bare-metal, glass-out restoration, carried out with correctness and originality firmly in mind. At 57,000 miles, the Lotus engine and carburettors were fully rebuilt, and the car has seen very little use since, ensuring it remains mechanically fresh and ready to be enjoyed.Finished in the striking and correct Moonstone Blue metallic, the interior has been retrimmed using the proper ‘Piccadilly’ cloth seat facings, faithfully reflecting the original factory specification. The exterior presentation is completed by refurbished AMIL alloy wheels, now fitted with new Pirelli CN36 VR tyres, maintaining a fully period-correct stance.Accompanying the car is a strong and well-documented history file, including the original dealer books, service book, recent service receipts and a current MOT, together with supporting paperwork that chronicles its careful ownership and restoration.A rare opportunity to acquire a beautifully restored, correctly specified and highly collectible Talbot Sunbeam Lotus, this late-production Series 2 ‘DAC’ car represents one of the finest surviving examples of a true British rally icon—fast becoming one of the most desirable performance cars of its era.
