Ford Escort 1970 - 1.6

1970 Ford Escort Mk1 2 Door 1600. This is a RHD import from South Africa. All tax and duty has been paid and we have the V5 here. The car starts runs and drives and is a solid shell, but there is room for improvement. Not a bad starting point for someone.Body - Mk1 2 Door shell. One of the early versions of a MK1 shell with the shocks bolting to the bar underneath and the more pointy heater bubble. Underneath has had a couple of repairs over the years and they have used flat plate rather than contoured panels. One minor repair needed on inner rear arch / tank well. Happy to get that done if someone pays the asking price. good original inner wings, strut tops, pillars, sills, rear arches. doors boot and bonnet are all good. Panel gaps are not bad. paintwork is perfectly presentable but no show winner for sure. Could do with a set of quarter bumpers for sure. rear light units are a bit scruffy as well and would benefit from an upgrade.Mechanics - 1600 crossflow which starts and runs. looks like its been cleaned and painted and some money spent on it. New thermostat housing, hoses, hose clips, water pump. Starter motor sometimes doesnt engage but we will change that before it goes. 4 speed box and standard running gear. Again looks like new track control arms, brake pipes. track rod ends. Front has been polybushed. Lowered at the rear. Standard diffInterior - Very standard but tidy. No rips or tears. Seats are good. Door cards are aftermarket but decent. Could do with proper sound deadening under carpet.Wheels - 7 inch Minilite style rims. Probably a little too wide and i think they would rub the rear arches with passengers in the back. Good 185/60/13 tyresYou are welcome to come and see the car.
