Ford Escort 1978 - 2000

1978 Ford Escort RS2000. We bought this car from the last owner who has had it since 2010. Its done about 300 miles in his ownership and spent most of its time in dry storage. This car was featured on the MAC Tools stand at the NEC a few years ago and they did a limited run of the toolboxes shown in the pictures. We have the V5 here showing 10 owners. The mileage is 110,000 miles. We have a folder with old MOTs and receipts for work done over the years. Body - MK2 RS2000 shell. Has all the right brackets in the right places. tramp bar brackets etc all look original and not welded on after the event. no strut top number visible. Its either been painted over or repaired over the years. Vin plate intact and its a matching numbers car. Underneath the floors look very original with no signs of welding or patching. Car has been waxoyled or ziebarted at some stage. When we got it underbonnet was all covered in wax which we have cleaned a lot of it off. Paintwork externally is very nice and perfectly useable. its not a show winner but not a show winner price either. It will make a good tidy useable example which you can have fun with, without worrying about it too much. Bit of bubbling on passenger door bottom otherwise no signs of any rust externally. Overall a good solid old car. Mechanics - Original 2.0 Pinto with 5 speed box fitted. Group 1 44 IDF carbs fitted, high lift cam. Not sure on the spec of the rest of the engine but it pulls well and is a good bit quicker than a standard one. Runs and drives Ok but will need a checkover and a bit of a recommission as its not been used much for a good number of years. Interior - Standard interior. Seats are good, as are the door cards and carpet. roof lining is original and in good order. Dash top has been retrimmed and this could do with being replaced. These are readily available now but never used to be.Wheels - Polished RS Alloys with good 185 60 13 tyres.This will make a good useable example and is half the price of a concours one.
