The 1989 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit embodies luxury, elegance, and timeless design. Powered by a 6.75 litre V8 engine, it delivers smooth and refined performance, complemented by a three-speed automatic transmission. Its handcrafted interior features plush leather upholstery, fine wood veneers, and meticulous attention to detail, The Silver Spirit's stately exterior design, characterised by its iconic grille and Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament, exudes classic charm. Advanced for its time, it includes features like automatic levelling suspension the 1989 Silver Spirit remains a symbol of prestige, catering to discerning enthusiasts of automotive excellence.Autocostruzione was run by famed Italian coachbuilder and engineer Salvatore Diomante, who is well-known for his involvement in bespoke Italian muscle-car brands of the 1960s and '70s, Bizzarrini and ISO. During the 1980s his work included engineering input on the Bugatti EB110 prototype but was primarily focused on ultra-expensive customisation jobs. One such job was commissioned by the Saudi Arabian importer of Rolls-Royce, Al Ajda Motoring, the result was a yellow drop top Silver Spirit, reportedly costing over £200,000 to build in 1986 (on top of the car's purchase price). This bright yellow 1984 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit Convertible was built for a Saudi Arabian customer who wanted to fly under the Rolls-Royce radar by using a 24-carat gold-plated Bentley grille in place of the regular Spirit of Ecstasy item. It is thought, although never confirmed, that this may have originally been for the famous Brunei collection.Finished in white with beige trim and blue piping, this example was registered on 15th September 1984 and delivered with the plate A50 HPR through franchise, H.P Arnett & sons in Dorset. This example was originally finished in Deep Ocean Blue and it is believed that it was dispatched to Italy to have the roof conversion by Autocostruzione SD as Rolls-Royce did not offer this as an option. The roof conversion elegantly unclips from the front and rolls back sitting behind the passengers headrests with a targa style finish enabling the body to retain rigidity, presenting then as a fantastic open top option for the luxury Silver Spirit while in the lounge style seats. The car was in regular use from new until 2010, covering the majority of its mileage during this time. The last service noted in the original booklet was at 109,600 with Silver Lady for which the invoice can be found in the history file along with and 20 further entries. Since 2010, invoices for maintenance including a reconditioned transmission and torque convertor at 110,417 miles (less than 500 miles ago) which can also be found in the file. The car has recently been treated to a light recommissioning and granted a new MoT test certificate valid until November 2026. A professionally fitted Apple CarPlay is present as are new carpets which all add to the open top experience of this truly unique vehicle. Offered with the original book pack, V5 registration document, numerous MoT test certificates and invoices, this is a very interesting and unique example that will turn heads at any event.
