This lot will be auctioned via Historics Classic and Sportscar Auctioneers at The Brooklands Velocity; Mercedes-Benz World sale on Saturday 29th November. Restored to a good standard. Five-speed gearbox. The Ford Escort Mk. II RS2000 is one of the most celebrated classic Fords, combining practicality with performance and cementing its place as an icon of 1970s motoring. Produced between 1975 and 1980, the Mk. II RS2000 built on the success of its predecessor while introducing a sharper, more modern design. With its square-edged styling, revised interior, and updated suspension, the Mk. II quickly became a favourite among rally drivers and road-going enthusiasts alike. At the heart of the RS2000 was the robust 2.0 litre Pinto engine, delivering around 110hp. Mated to a slick four-speed gearbox, the engine made the RS2000 responsive and engaging to drive. Its rear-wheel-drive layout, precise steering, and well-tuned suspension gave it excellent balance, making it a joy on twisty roads and an ideal base for competition use. Visually, the Mk. II RS2000 was instantly recognisable thanks to its distinctive droop snoot nose cone. Flared arches, sporty stripes, and alloy wheels added to its aggressive stance, while inside, the car offered a functional yet sporty cockpit, often equipped with supportive Recaro seats.Originally registered on 21st September 1979, this RS2000 has been restored and presents well. The white coachwork is in good order and the dark brown cloth interior is unmarked. Any re-trimming of the seats appears to have been done to a very good standard and the tennis racket headrests are retained. The 2.0 Pinto engine started immediately when requested and ran well, it is generally a very robust and reliable unit. The gearbox is a five-speed unit, presumably from a Sierra and operates smoothly and efficiently. A full length Webasto sunroof is fitted and the engine has a four-branch exhaust system. The suspension has been slightly lowered giving this Escort RS2000 Custom a sportier look. The history file contains invoices for its recent work. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 6th June 2026 (with no advisories). Highly sought-after by collectors, the Escort Mk. II RS2000 represents a golden era of Fords motorsport-inspired road cars. The RS2000 became a favourite on the rally stage, where its durability and predictable handling made it a formidable competitor at national and international levels. Consigned by Stewart Banks
