Auctioned on Saturday 29th November.

This lot will be auctioned via Historics Classic and Sportscar Auctioneers at The Brooklands Velocity; Mercedes-Benz World sale on Saturday 29th November. Restored when returned to the UK from Ireland in 2018. Originally a left hand drive export-market car. Part of a private collection. Triumph TR4 was launched in 1961, and codenamed Zest. Beneath the bonnet lay Triumphs robust 2138cc OHV four-cylinder engine, paired with a wider track, rack and pinion steering, and an all-synchromesh gearbox. In 1965 came the TR4A, the final evolution of the model line. While visually similar to the TR4, the TR4A featured significant mechanical advances, most notably independent rear suspension (IRS), fitted to around 75% of cars produced. This gave the TR4A far superior ride comfort and handling compared with its predecessors. A small number of live-axle versions were built for certain export markets. Between 1965 and 1967, a total of 28,465 TR4As were produced. With a top speed of 102mph, the TR4A was the car cost around £750 when new, roughly equivalent to an average annual UK salary at the time. Factory options included wire wheels, a Surrey hardtop, heater, seat belts, and overdrive. This 1966 Triumph TR4A Convertible was originally built for the left hand drive market and returned to the UK in 2018, where it underwent a comprehensive restoration. Presented in very good condition, it benefits from time spent in dry climates, helping to preserve its bodywork and chassis integrity. It features the later-style chrome side strips, revised grille, and updated indicator lamps, with the classic Michelotti lines still shining through beautifully. Supplied with a V5 registration document, this delightful TR4A has clearly been cherished and well maintained, representing a fine example of one of Triumphs most characterful and desirable 1960s roadsters. Now ready for its next custodian, this car would make a worthy addition to any classic car collection. Consigned by Baljit Singh
