In current family ownership for circa 50 years. Highly original example. The Volvo P1800 S is a classic Swedish sportscar known for its elegant design and robust engineering. Featuring a 2.0 litre inline-four engine producing around 115bhp, it offered a smooth, reliable driving experience. Built in Sweden, the P1800 S had refined styling updates from earlier models and a reputation for longevity. With its distinctive curves, chrome accents, and comfortable interior, the P1800 S remains a favourite among collectors for its timeless style and dependable performance.Our vendors late father purchased this car in the mid 1970s, when it was still a fairly new car, and always kept it as the special occasions and sunny days car, never for the daily commute. Its highly likely the displayed mileage could in fact be correct, but it is impossible to say for sure, though many of the obvious wear and tear areas still look excellent and original, adding confidence to the mileage reading. Our vendor confirms the car was painted in the 1980s, as the red coachwork had begun to fade slightly, but other than that, he isnt aware of any restoration work ever being required, as the car was always properly stored and wasnt used through harsh winters on salty roads etc. Those who have seen enough of these will know just how hard it is to find a nice, genuine example. So many have been restored to varying standards, and this one really gives the impression that it is just right and doesnt look to have been taken apart and put back together numerous times in the past, if at all. Supplied to auction with a V5 registration document and various invoices from over the years, this example will be ideal for those looking for a P1800 S which wears a lovely gentle patina and hasnt been upgraded and messed about with, as so many have.
