Its longevity can be attributed to its useful and spacious three-box design, usable boot and comfort, values not often associated with Ferrari. The 400's uncluttered styling and simple lines were hallmarks of Pininfarina's design philosophy of the time and marked a radical departure from the contoured Ferraris of the time. Making it the most usable of Ferraris, purists grumbled about the front-engine layout and automatic gearbox option, but the use of the Colombo V12 engine, which traces its roots back to the Ferrari race engines of the 1940s, makes every inch of those angular lines a full-red-blooded Ferrari. First introduced in 1976, the 400 was an evolution of the 365 GT4 2+2, fitted with the bigger 4.8 L F 101 C V12 engine. In total, 355 cars left the factory of which 137 were right-hand drive. Subsequent versions were upgraded with bigger engines and upgraded styling, allowing the model to remain in production until 1989.This beautifully presented example comes to market from 6 year ownership, is a genuine UK spec car finished in 'Rosso Sir Ivor' with a black leather interior.
