Ford Escort 1980 - Saloon

1980 Ford Escort 1600 Sport. RHD Import from South Africa with all tax and duty paid. Nova has been done and the UK registration has now been received. We have the V5 here. Car starts runs and drives but will need some work to make roadworthy / useable.Body - Export spec sport shell with similar strengthening to our RS models at the front. Good original inner wings, strut tops, rear arches. Both front floors have been repaired as have the boot wells. Look solid. Front floors are presentable, boot wells could do with being tidied up. Repairs have been coated with a rubberised product they use over there which go really hard. Will need minor repairs at the back on outer floor are where it meets the sills. Both sides are starting to go a little.If i poked it would be a hole. Not huge repairs but they are there. Panels gaps are OK but both doors need adjusting slightly as stick out a bit at the bottom. Paintwork is average at best and defo no show queen and they have been a bit lazy as the door strikers etc have been painted. Mechanics - 1600 711M block crossflow, which starts easily and runs quite well. Might need tappets setting and carb adjusted due to the different climate. 5 speed gearbox fitted. Brakes and clutch work. We have driven it round the industrial estate but thats about it.Will need a full checkover from front to back before using in anger. Sits high at the back and will need lowering blocks to avoid the wonderwheels lookInterior - Good black headlining. Dashtop been recovered an its average. Retrimmed seats with the sport material thats available in SA. These are tidy enough. Door cards are ok. Carpet is a bit of a badly fitting shambles and will need replaced. Wheels - Banded Sport steels which look OK to be fair but id prefer standard or alloysThis car is a viable project for the DIYer. If you were paying someone to do it for you your better buying a nicer one to start with. You are welcome to come and see the car. We have a ramp so you can look underneath.
