Auctioned on Saturday 20th September.
1 Previous Owner, This lot will be auctioned via Historics Classic and Sportscar Auctioneers at The Pace of Autumn; Ascot Racecourse sale on Saturday 20th September. Desirable manual gearbox. Low mileage and well cared for example. The BMW E46 M3 was first introduced in October 2000 and appeared worldwide with the new 3.2 litre S54 M-tuned engine. At the time of the car's introduction, this Euro spec engine was the highest specific output naturally aspirated engine ever made by BMW (except in the McLaren F1), producing 338bhp. It was only available in coupe and convertible bodies as the saloon version had been dropped. The E46 M3 was offered with a standard 6-speed manual Getrag gearbox but optionally came with an SMG gearbox (also known as the SMG II) with a electrohydraulically actuated clutch (no clutch pedal). Shifts were made via the SMG gear knob or the steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. The engine had a redline of 8,000 rpm. As with most M engines, the S54 again had six independent throttle bodies and this time electronically operated throttles (drive-by-wire throttle with no cable). This low mileage BMW presents very well in Titanium Silver with black leather interior. Clearly this has been a very well cared for example, the paintwork is virtually unmarked, as is the leather interior. M3s are good specification vehicles with air conditioning, electric seats and a Harmon/Kardon sound system. Driver aids include dynamic stability control, cornering brake control and a limited slip differential. This example being a convertible, has a power hood which operates as it should. Power, of which there is plenty, is delivered via a six-speed manual gearbox, which offers an exciting drive. With an electronically limited top speed of 155mph and 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds, the M3 certainly lived up to its name and did not disappoint! Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate, this is an opportunity to purchase an excellent, low mileage example of a highly sought-after M series BMW.
