Well-maintained example with extensive work records. Full engine rebuild by renowned engine builder Lester Owen. Five-speed overdrive gearbox and limited slip differential. Longterm ownership, 11 years with the current owner. Unveiled as part of BMWs New Class line-up, the BMW 2002 helped cement the brands reputation for building compact, driver-focused performance saloons. With its clean, purposeful two-door bodywork and lightweight monocoque construction, the 2002 combined everyday usability with spirited driving dynamics. Its rear-wheel-drive layout and fully independent suspension delivered exceptional road holding and balance, while front disc brakes ensured confident stopping power. Though modest in size, the cabin was intelligently designed and offered a driver-centric layout. Fitted with a 2.0 litre engine and precise manual gearbox, the 2002 provided lively performance wrapped in understated style. A true enthusiasts car, it set the template for the modern sports saloon, practicality, precision, and performance in equal measure.First registered on 9th November 1971 in Vienna, Austria, this left hand drive BMW 2002 is presented in Bristol Grey with a dark blue vinyl interior. This cherished example has been meticulously maintained and upgraded to enhance and refine the core characteristics of the original car, preserving its iconic driving experience. Some of the work under the current owner includes a full engine rebuild, with dual weber 45 DCOE carburettors, custom stainless steel and ceramic coated exhaust manifold, producing 163hp. The suspension and brake system have been overhauled to complement the engine performance with Bilstein dampers, Eibach springs, polybushes and larger ventilated front brake discs matched with four piston calipers. The drivetrain has also been improved with a five-speed overdrive gearbox, mated with a limited slip differential. The owner confirms that all electronics function as expected, and the driving experience is just as engaging and rewarding as the enhancements imply. The interior has not been left wanting, with re-upholstered front seats in the original vinyl and a Moto-Lita leather steering wheel. The odometer indicates 19,817 miles, though this is not warranted due to the speedo being replaced with a second-hand mph unit. The true milage is around 49,500 miles, though this is also not warranted.Offered with two original keys, two immobiliser fobs, original owners manual, original Austrian registration document, numerous bills and receipts showing in excess £30,000 spent during the current ownership and an MoT test certificate until June 2026. This is a one-of-a-kind build that offers a captivating driving experience, ideal for spirited B-road drives or as a standout entrant at classic car shows. Consigned by Baljit Singh
