A genuine piece of motoring history with photos of the late Queen driving the car. The 2009 Jaguar X-Type was the final model year of Jaguars compact executive saloon, marking the end of a vehicle that aimed to expand the brands reach into the entry-luxury market. Introduced in 2001, the X-Type was designed to compete with German rivals like the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4, while still carrying Jaguars traditional styling cues. By 2009, the car had undergone several refinements, with the last models offering more polished features and subtle exterior updates. The design of the X-Type retained Jaguars classic elegance, with a rounded grille, smooth lines, and understated luxury. Inside, the cabin was trimmed with leather and real wood, a hallmark of the brand, giving it a distinctly British feel compared to its more minimalist competitors. Available as both a four-door saloon and a stylish estate, the X-Type provided versatility as well as comfort. Although critics often pointed out its Ford Mondeo roots, the Jaguar X-Type still held appeal for buyers seeking Jaguar prestige in a more affordable package. As the last of its line, it remains a unique entry in Jaguars history, bridging old-world luxury with modern practicality.This fantastic piece of Royal history is presented in Emerald Fire with Barley leather interior and the first owner was HM Queen Elizabeth II. This is confirmed by its original booklet stating its registration as PYN IF which can also be seen in photos with HM the Queen at the wheel. It comes with a sunroof, automatic transmission, electric windows, climate control, a good service history, Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and has been well maintained. The Royal family might have a long history with Bentley state limousines, but they love Jaguars as well. Although the late Queen Elizabeth II was seen behind the wheel of several cars during her long reign, her favourite seems to be the Land Rover Defender. She had a particular liking for this model, but when that was unavailable, she had a back-up car, a Jaguar X-Type Estate, registration number PYN 1F. In the pictures available on the internet, you can see HM Queen Elizabeth II driving this very car with Her Majesty wearing sunglasses and a hat which was so typical. She looked happy and healthy, leaving Windsor Castle behind her and at the wheel of the Jaguar, driving up the Long Walk. The X-Type Estate wasnt among the most desirable models the brand ever built but who would have thought this would be one of Queen Elizabeth IIs go-to vehicles? Currently owned by a private collector, this X-Type Estate is supplied with a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate valid until 13th August 2026, the original service book and a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate confirming this car formed part of the Royal household lease cars. This surely is a car for the serious collector or royalist and with a provenance which is impossible to match, this is unique!
