It provides a more reliable platform with no timing chain issues as found with the M271 1.8 Turbocharged engine fitted between 2011 - 2015. The Manual Gearbox in the SLK is very rare to come by, especially after being discontinued in 2015 with the last few Manual models being available to purchase in March 2016 prior to moving to the fully automatic and less engaging SLC model in September 2016.
