Just arrived and under preparationWe are delighted to offer for sale this absolutely stunning R107A very early and possibly the earliest known R107 currently on the road being 08 October 1971 registration and data card stamping 22 Sept 1971Production commenced in April 1971.Our car has all the delightful features found on the earliest cars, lost through the years and so very similar to the earlier Pagodas which ceased manufacture in March 1971Features such asSingle small mirrorNo headrests, only on the earliest of cars along with BS tagsEarly ridged steering wheelNo veneerChrome door handlesEarly instrumentation font, without KPHFeatures such as these, just like the very early E-Types make this car one of the prettiest R107s made and a highly sought after car. It's finished in its original colours of Grey Blue metallic (DB906) with blue MB Tex trim. The 3. 5-litre V8 engine drives through an automatic gearbox, inside theres a Blaupunkt stereo, manual windows and steel wheels clad with colour-matched stainless steel wheel trims. This SL has all its original (early Pagoda style) books and manuals, which is lovely to see, including its service book plus a history file of paperwork detailing expenditure over the years. In 08.24 it had an overhaul of the injection system and replacement rear brakes amongst other work at Edward Halls Mercedes Specialists at a cost of around £8300. Subsequently then sold by Edward Hall to its latest custodian.A recent replacement hood sees this in first class condition. The car presents extremely well throughout with very nice paintwork with only a few marks not really worth a mention, equally the brightwork in good order and the interior is in excellent condition and it seems entirely original and a lovely place to be.Structurally the car appears in very good order and is well protected. The original VIN stamped hard top in good condition comes with the car. When launched the R107 represented absolute modernity and ably replaced the much loved and highly successful Pagoda. It was faster, roomier and more luxurious, and took the SL into the 70s with a more GT focus. As we now know, it was phenomenally successful and, like the Pagoda, became one of the most coveted symbols of success. We can only imagine the stir this particular car would have caused as it first hit the roads in late 1971.Export enquiries welcome
