If you need a work van for your business or just need a practical workhorse, then how about going electric?
There are several electric vans that offer decent ranges, provide enough power, and can be just as practical as their internal-combustion-powered alternatives.
Electric vans offer the best of both worlds when it comes to practicality, reliability, durability and are all available through Cazoo.
With that in mind, we’ve compiled a list of the best electric vans on the used market today.
Ford E-Transit
The Ford Transit is a status symbol for commercial vehicles here in Britain, ever since the original was launched in 1965.
The Transit is a practical, no-nonsense workhorse with several body styles and lengths to suit a range of different business buyers.
The E-Transit is the electric model, and comes equipped with a 68kWh battery pack with an electric motor that manages a claimed 196 miles on a single charge.
It also has a maximum payload of 1,649kg and can tow up to 2,000kg, making it a very usable commercial companion.
Second-hand prices for an 18-month-old example that’s travelled 26,000 miles start from around £20,995 (inc.VAT).

Ford E-Transit Custom
The latest Ford Transit Custom is now available as an EV, which helps boost its appeal and makes it even cheaper to run.
The E-Transit Custom looks almost identical to the standard combustion-powered model, with the exception of a smoothed off front grille. It comes equipped with a 64kWh battery pack with an electric motor that Ford claims can take the van 204 miles on a single charge.
If you want to carry heavier items, then the electric Custom can carry up to 1,088kg and will manage to tow up to 2,300kg.
Prices for used examples of the E-Transit Custom start at £21,490 (inc.VAT) for a one-year-old model that’s travelled 7,500 miles.

Mercedes eSprinter
The Mercedes Sprinter is one of the German firm’s longest-serving commercial vehicles.
A few years ago, Mercedes introduced an electric version, called the eSprinter. It features a 55kWh battery pack with an electric motor to deliver a claimed range of up to 95 miles; however, newer models now come equipped with a 113kWh unit, which boosts its claimed range up to 272 miles between charges.
The eSprinter feels just like the combustion-powered model to drive as it has a well-made interior, comfortable ride and there are different body styles to choose from.
If you’re thinking about buying a second-hand eSprinter, prices for a 55kWh model will start at £13,250 (inc.VAT) for a two-year-old van with 19,000 miles on the clock. If you need more range, then the 113kWh model is the one to go for, with prices starting at £39,995 for a six-month-old van with 1,500 miles on the clock.

Renault Kangoo E-Tech
The Renault Kangoo has always been a fun, funky and left-field choice in the world of commercial vehicles, and now, there is an electric variant.
It’s called the Kangoo E-Tech and it comes fitted with a 44kWh battery pack with an electric motor that generates 120bhp and can take the van a claimed 186 miles between charges.
Despite its small size, the Kangoo is surprisingly capable of carrying lots of items that weigh up to 608kg in short-wheel-base guise, or 764kg in long-wheel-base form. Plus, it can tow up to 1,500kg.
Used prices start at £10,500 (inc.VAT) for a 3,000-mile 2022 example, making the Kangoo E-Tech represent exceptional value for money.

Toyota Proace Electric
The Toyota Proace Electric is a great choice for those looking for a reliable and dependable commercial vehicle.
Underneath, it shares its underpinnings with the Citroen e-Dispatch, Peugeot e-Expert and Vauxhall Vivaro Electric.
The Proace comes with a Medium Panel Van body style and is equipped with a 75kWh unit that’s good for travelling a claimed 215 miles.
It’s also well-equipped, smooth and comfortable to drive, and should be extremely dependable and hard-working.
Used prices start £16,000 (inc.VAT) for a three-year-old model that’s covered less than 30,000 miles.

Toyota Proace City Electric
The Toyota Proace Electric is also available as a compact ‘City’ variant, which is cheaper to buy and run.
Underneath its skin, the City is powered by a single electric motor and 50kWh battery that can take the van a claimed 133 miles between trips to the plug.
As it’s a small van, it also fits into tiny parking spaces, can squeeze its way through tight gaps around town and is a doddle to drive in built-up areas.
If you want to carry bulkier items, the Proace City has a maximum payload capacity of 759kg and can tow up to 1,350kg.
Used prices are extremely affordable, with a 2022 model that’s covered just 6,000 miles on the market for £11,990 (inc.VAT).

Volkswagen ID.Buzz Cargo
Fancy something a bit more retro? Then Volkswagen has you covered with the ID.Buzz Cargo.
The Cargo is based on the funky ID.Buzz electric MPV, which features metal rear windows and a two-seat layout.
The Buzz’s bold styling makes it stand out on the road and can be opted with bright colour schemes. Underneath, there is a choice of 59kWh and 77kWh battery packs, which return claimed ranges of 201 miles and 277 miles, respectively.
The Cargo also has a maximum payload of up to 607kg and has a towing capacity of 1,000kg.
Prices on the used market start from around £22,000 (inc.VAT) for a two-year-old example that’s covered 29,000 miles.
