Auctioned on Saturday 20th September.
Insurance Group 13, This lot will be auctioned via Historics Classic and Sportscar Auctioneers at The Pace of Autumn; Ascot Racecourse sale on Saturday 20th September. £61,433.40 spent with Bespoke of Harrogate. Spectre themed build. Very little use since build was completed. The Land Rover was launched in 1948 and, incredibly, production only finished in January 2016 after a continuous run of 67 years. Outwardly, there is little to distinguish the post-1983 vehicles from the Series III Land Rover. A full-length bonnet, revised grille, plus the fitting of wheel arch extensions to cover wider-track axles are the most noticeable changes.Sam Mendes, the director of both Skyfall and Spectre wanted a spectacular snow chase scene and turned to Jaguar Land Rover to assist. With the standard Land Rover 110 Defender deemed a bit too bland for a baddys getaway car they turned to leading Land Rover modifiers, Bowler. The firm transformed 10 standard production, Santorini Black, crew-cab 110s into the SVX Concept or Spectre Defender. The cars featured huge 37-inch tyres, heavy-duty roll cages plus toughened suspensions with rose joints and Bilstein rally dampers. A hydraulic handbrake was installed, and its lever repositioned. The engine was tuned to give 180bhp and Recaro seats fitted. The look of the James Bond Spectre Defenders has gone on to prove a timeless design. The large knobbly tyres on the beadlock wheels along with the rugged external roll cage and rope hanging from the front giving the tough mercenary look the films were going for. On offer here is a 2005 TD5 110 Defender which was given to Defender customisation specialists Bespoke based in Harrogate to create a Spectre evocation. The supplied invoice shows some £61,433.40 was spent with them modifying the vehicle. Making a pleasant change from most Spectre inspired Defenders, this example has been painted in Lamborghini Green metallic and boasts options such as a refreshed TD5 powerplant that has then been remapped to maximise performance, uprated intercooler, stainless steel exhaust, uprated suspension, various exterior upgrades, bespoke leather seats with high back front seats, interior soundproofing and most recently in December of last year the stereo was upgraded by LM Electrical and Security at a cost of £2,353.00. To say this fabulous Defender has had the full treatment is no understatement with the vendor reporting the vehicle the run and drive very well, receiving a lot of attention and compliments wherever it goes.Supplied with a V5 registration document, invoices from LM Electrical and Security and Bespoke. Available at a fraction of its build cost and having been used lightly since its completion, this fantastic Spectre Defender is not the usual home modded build, its a professionally build example sure to attract attention wherever it goes.
