Aston Villa charity nets a further £3k with Cazoo 'Golden Goals' Initiative

Cazoo’s new ‘Golden Goals’ charitable initiative proved a winner last night for The Aston Villa Foundation, the Club’s official charity, when Aston Villa thrashed Fulham with a 3-0 win away at Craven Cottage and netted a further £3,000 donation from Cazoo for the Club’s official charity.

Jack Grealish, Conor Hourihane and Tyrone Mings each got off the mark against Fulham and added £3,000 to the current tally joining Ezri Konsa, who secured £1,000 last week, and bringing the running total to £4,000 just after two Premier League games.

Last week Cazoo, Aston Villa’s new shirt sponsor, launched the ‘Golden Goals’ initiative where every goal scored in the Premier League by the Villains this season will result in £1,000 being donated by Cazoo to The Aston Villa Foundation up to a maximum of £50,000.

Cazoo, the UK’s leading online car retailer, which makes buying a car as easy as buying any other product online today, was announced as the Club’s new main partner at the end of the 2019/20 season and immediately started speaking to the Aston Villa Foundation after hearing about its impact and work across Birmingham and will now become an official partner of the Club’s charitable arm.

The Foundation works with a range of partners for the benefit of people from a variety of backgrounds in Birmingham and the wider community. The Foundation team runs around 250 sessions over seven days a week and thousands of people benefit from its projects which help get people more active, live healthy lifestyles, encourage education, training and skills, and contribute to safer, stronger communities.

Alex Chesterman OBE, Founder & CEO of Cazoo said, “We’re delighted to see the tally standing at £4,000 after just two games and we’re looking forward to more goals being scored so we can convert them to cash for The Aston Villa Foundation. It’s a great start to the season and the goals scored will help deliver essential projects and opportunities to people in the local communities around Birmingham and support the Foundation with their incredible work.”
