However, the release of the 1965 Silver Shadow was considered a revolution for the company. The crisply designed saloon styling, utilising a monocoque construction, was a visual treat, successfully balancing modernity with tradition.Further revolution was evident under its skin, with hydropneumatic suspension and braking set-up and a new range of V8 engines, designed for smoothness rather than pace. Gradual upgrades were carried out on the car over its 31-year production run, one of the most notable being the enlargement of the engine to 6.75 litres, which provided 220bhp, resulting in the car becoming even more refined when cruising.
