Ford Escort 1980 - Saloon

1 Previous Owner, Here we have an extremely original Ford Escort MK2 1600 Sport. This was a 1 lady owner car in South Africa, when we first brought it over. Its only done 50,000 miles or 80,000 kms. I actually drove this car myself when I was over in South Africa and eventually done a deal on it. We have the original bill of sale, handbook, service book with 16 Stamps in it. There are a few receipts for work done also during its life in South Africa. When we brought it over the plan was to keep it as it was so original, and it was never advertised. One of our friends saw it hiding in the back row of our unit and persuaded us to sell it. He added the wheels, boot spoiler and done a bit mechanical recommissioning. He used it a fair bit and done the Lakes Tour in it this year. Another car has caught his eye, so we were more than happy to take it back in as a trade in, given its originality and history. There are not many left like this. Body - Never touched underneath. All original floors, sills, arches with small serial number still visible on the lip, pillars. Inner wings are all original. Car was treated with waxoyl or similar from new which is still present under the bonnet. It will clean off fairly easily but we will leave that decision to the new owner. Very clean straight original car. Couple of minor scuffs and scratches as it is 45 years old now. These would be easily rectified but we wanted to leave the car as it is. Evidence of a minor repair on bottom of drivers door otherwise no filler anywhere. We have been round it with the magnet. Original Ford marked flat Halogen headlamps, spotlamps. Good bumpers and trim. In the boot it still has the original toolkit and boot carpet.Mechanics - Original engine with number matching the original service book. Its only covered 50k miles, or 80k kms and has been regularly serviced. Last owner did a service in May 2025. Car starts runs and drives as it should and as mentioned done the recent Lakes Tour with no dramas. Interior - All standard and original. Good door cards with no speaker holes, rooflining is good and original, good carpet, Seats retain there original material but have been tightened up a bit and the foam replaced. They are nice and firm and not sagging. The seats are really clean. Bit of paint chipping on spokes on steering wheel but thats a minor fix. Wheels - 4 x Powdercoated RS Alloys with good Yokohama tyres. We also have the original steels. The car still has the original spare wheel and original Firestone tyre.If you are into originality, then this fits the bill. Its 99.5 percent Henry Ford, not a Bitsa and been 20 times round the block. You will get shinier examples out there for sure, with better spec but they are only original once as they say.You are welcome to come and see the car. We have a ramp so you can look underneath.
