This lot will be auctioned via Historics Classic and Sportscar Auctioneers at The Pace of Autumn; Ascot Racecourse sale on Saturday 20th September. Rare model. Restored example. Featured in Classic Ford. The 1965 Ford Cortina 1500 two-door GT was a sporty variant of Fords popular family car, combining practicality with performance. Powered by a 1.5 litre inline-four engine, it delivered lively acceleration and sharp handling for its class. The GT trim added distinguishing features such as twin carburettors, improved suspension, sportier interior touches, and unique exterior details. Lightweight and agile, it appealed to enthusiasts and became a favourite in club racing and rallies, cementing its reputation as a fun, affordable classic. This rare Ford Cortina GT was first registered in March 1965 and presents extremely well in gleaming white coachwork with a contrasting black interior. A five-page article in the February 2000 edition of Classic Ford details how under a previous owners tenure, this two-door Cortina benefitted from a detailed, seven-year restoration. Originally painted in yellow the current owner had the colour changed to the more stylish white we see today, although this change has not yet been updated with the DVLA. Offered to auction with a V5 registration document, various bills and receipts and a comprehensive MoT test certificate history, this GT is sure to attract a lot of attention given the enduring popularity of the Ford marque.
