      Description

1 Previous Owner, This lot will be auctioned via Historics Classic and Sportscar Auctioneers at The Pace of Autumn; Ascot Racecourse sale on Saturday 20th September.Imported from Japan in 2018Many new parts fitted in the last four yearsThe Jeep Grand Wagoneer is a classic American luxury SUV that holds a special place in automotive history. As one of the last models produced under AMC (American Motors Corporation) before Chrysler's acquisition, it represents the end of an era. Renowned for its iconic woodgrain exterior panelling and rugged yet elegant design, the 1988 Grand Wagoneer offered a unique combination of off-road capability and upscale comfort, making it a favourite among outdoor enthusiasts and suburban families alike. Powered by a 5.9 litre V8 engine paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, the 1988 Grand Wagoneer delivered solid performance and impressive towing power for its time. It came standard with four-wheel drive, making it highly capable in rough terrain or poor weather conditions. Despite its body-on-frame construction, the SUV provided a relatively smooth ride thanks to its heavy-duty suspension system. Inside, the Grand Wagoneer featured plush leather seats, power windows and locks, air conditioning, and a premium audio system, all of which were luxurious touches uncommon in most SUVs of the era. The spacious interior and ample cargo room made it ideal for long road trips or weekend getaways. This Jeep was imported from Japan in 2018 and purchased by the vendor in 2021. Not only are these great workhorses, they are also supremely comfortable and come with a great specification. Leather trim, power seats, air conditioning and four-wheel drive are all standard features. Throughout his stewardship this Grand Wagoneer has benefitted from a rebuilt carburettor, an ignition system upgrade, stainless steel exhaust, new alternator and upgraded rear axle and bearings. Inside this delightful Jeep has had new carpets throughout, a new headlining with matching sun visors and Apple CarPlay. This is a very good example of a classic American SUV. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 20th March 2026. Today, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer is a sought-after collector's vehicle, celebrated for its vintage charm and timeless appeal. It embodies a bygone era when SUVs were just beginning to blend utility with comfort. Restored models are particularly prized, often commanding high prices due to their nostalgia, craftsmanship, and distinctive character. Consigned by Stewart Banks
