Avoid This Dealership – Poor Vehicle Condition & Aftercare I purchased a 2007 Mustang from this dealership a few months ago and have faced a long list of issues ever since. The car was advertised as having xenon headlights, but when it arrived, I immediately noticed they didn’t meet road safety regulations and appeared illegal. Upon closer inspection, I discovered they were actually halogen projectors falsely advertised as xenons. Even worse, the headlights were dangerously bodged together, with cardboard stuffed inside a shocking and unsafe detail that had clearly been hidden. I had to replace the entire setup immediately just to make the car roadworthy. This was particularly frustrating given the dealership’s claim that the car would be thoroughly inspected prior to sale, a promise clearly not upheld. Strangely, they also put it through a service and its MOT 2days before it was received. Within just a few days, the handbrake cable snapped. Despite this happening so soon after purchase, the dealership refused to help and instead suggested I look for replacement parts on eBay. A garage inspection shortly after revealed a noisy gearbox and a worn clutch. Communication with the dealership, especially with Simon, has been deeply disappointing. He brushed off the issues as "normal" and cited a \xa3500 discount at the time of purchase as justification for offering no further support even though that discount doesn't begin to cover the repair costs, and the car was supposedly sold with a warranty. Since then, I've paid out of pocket for several urgent fixes: a new handbrake, a radiator hose clamp, coolant system flush, missing parts, and more. A transmission specialist would later discover what appears to be the wrong type of fluid inside the gearbox and suspects internal damage due to neglect or misuse. Further inspection revealed structural damage, cracked components, and signs of previous abuse none of which were disclosed before the sale. To make matters worse, documents I received post-sale listed conflicting engine specifications and revealed that the car had previously been a salvage vehicle of some capacity in the Netherlands, which was never mentioned during the buying process. Despite multiple emails and being told I'd receive a callback once Simon returned from leave, I've had no response in over a month later. I feel completely let down and strongly advise others to steer well clear of this dealership. In my experience, they've shown a profound lack of care, responsibility, and knowledge, and I wouldn’t trust them for anything, let alone vehicle advice or aftercare.

I recently bought a used BMW from Derby Trade Cars. The sales team was excellent. They were friendly and professional and made the purchase process smooth and straightforward. Shortly after buying the car, I experienced a couple of issues, including a cruise control fault and problems with the lower arm bushes. I initially had some concern over the warranty, as it only covered major repairs, but I’m happy to say the dealership especially Simon went above and beyond to make things right. Once I got in touch, he was honest and transparent and took the car back to sort the issues without fuss. They even replaced the arm, got it MOT’d again, and made sure everything was done to a high standard, all at no cost to me. It’s clear he genuinely cared about customer satisfaction, and I really appreciate the effort they made to put things right. Thanks again; would definitely recommend!

It is difficult, in this day and age, to find a company like this! I bought my AMG GT from them nearly two months ago... a superb car and in great condition. The service and attention I received from Derby Trade Cars was second to none. They listened to my requirements and bent over backwards to assist me.... both before and after I purchased the car. 6 weeks after purchase, a component failed on the car and without hesitation, Derby Trade Cars immediately made an extremely large contribution to the replacement cost of the component. This sort of attention and superb service is unfortunately rare these days but clearly.... Not rare at Derby Trade Cars!! I will, of course, be putting all future business their way...

We were severely disappointed with our experience with Derby cars. Immediately after purchase we realised the car had missed a major service and decided to take it Land Rover (we debated a Land Rover specialist but as it was such a significant service thought it was better to go with JLR themselves). We had been told the car had been both MOT'd and serviced when we bought it. The MOT was VERY dodgy, as Land Rover said, the car was unsafe to drive. There was a major "obvious" leak on the differential and, equally shocking, despite having asked for the tyres to be checked for tread and brand it transpired that there were different tyres across the front axel and the rear OS tyre was down to the cord. The spare tyre was deflated with a nail right through it ! We ended up having to replace all 4 tyres which, on a Range Rover, proved very expensive. Combined with the cost of the service and the essental work were over \xa34.7k out of pocket. The rear motorised arm rest was also broken and clearly hadn't even been checked as it was full of rubbish. BUYER BE VERY AWARE - everything is not as it seems and you have no recourse, EVERYTHING is done on the VERY cheap, even our expensive range rover, we own 8 cars and this is by far the worst experiance we have ever experienced, we didn't contact the dealer as it was very obvious that it would be a complete waste of time. The mot garage has been reported to the DVSA with both video and photographic evidence, as just from a safety perspective the car should and would have failed its mot.

Can’t thank Simon enough at derby trade cars. Saw this beautiful Mercedes C63 went straight over to view and left a deposit and Simon said he would hold the car for a little bit until I can collect. Amazing garage and service can’t wait to collect the car. Would recommend to anybody and will definitely buy from them again. Thanks Ben

Land rover defender. Staff are friendly and have a lot of nice cars in the showroom. Posting about my experience today. I drove 9 hours today to go collect a land rover. Arrived and it was in terrible condition. Oil leaking out the diff, paint issues all round the car, interior was tatty and not up to standard advertised. Rust underneath the vehicle. Needed front and rear brakes replaced. Basically car is probably worth 25k as it sits, not 40k as advertised. The company done absolutely no prep work on the car before the sale. Drove home empty handed. The pictures online have been airbrushed so the car looks nice, but in reality it wasn't. Feel like the garage could have spent a bit of money on the car to bring it up to standard before trying to sell it. Only plus thing was, girl that worked there was very attractive 😜 UPDATE Owner called me, apologised, compensated me for my fuel money, asked and listened to my compliments, and promised this wouldn't happen again. Maybe this was a one off mistake and the garage is respectable 🤔

Would highly recommend anyone to buy a car from these guys! We are a garage in West Sussex who needed to organise a complex repair / delicate situation on a car supplied by Derby Trade Sales. Simon was absoutely brilliant through out at managing an extremely delicate situation and a customer who had completely unrealistic and unreasonable expectations. What we must rememeber is roblems do occur with cars, what makes the difference is how the problem is managed. You know you hgave brought from an excellent vendor when a problem is resolved and managed with good after care. Pete Evans MD TC Garage LTD
