Ford Sierra1986 (D) - RS Cosworth 3-Door

The Ford Sierra RS Cosworth is a performance-oriented version of the Sierra family car produced by Ford Europe in the mid-1980s. The car was developed by Ford's motorsport division, which aimed to create a high-performance vehicle that could compete in rallies and racing. The Sierra RS Cosworth was equipped with a 2.0 litre turbocharged engine that produced 204bhp and 214 lb-ft of torque, making it one of the fastest cars of its time. The exterior of the Sierra RS Cosworth was designed with aerodynamics in mind, featuring a distinctive front grille, a large whaletail rear spoiler, and wider wheel arches to accommodate its wider track. Inside, the car was fitted with Recaro bucket seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, as well as a range of gauges and dials to monitor the car's performance. The Sierra RS Cosworth proved to be a successful rally car, winning several championships and races throughout the 1980s and 1990s.This example is finished in a very attractive dark blue metallic and has been in our vendors collection for 14 years. The previous owner cared for the car for 19 years prior to that, so it really has been in enthusiastic hands for the vast majority of its life. This Sierra is understood to have been re-shelled sometime in the early 1990s. Our vendor understands that the previous owner purchased the car from a garage local to him, who had the car stolen from their forecourt and it was then returned to them as a kit of parts, minus the bodyshell. The previous owner then set about rebuilding it using a brand new shell, which he had purchased from Ford and the mileage when the rebuild began, stood at just 26,000 miles; the current mileage of 32,839 is therefore believed to be genuine. The overall condition of the underside and interior would certainly suggest that may be true. Our vendor has fantastic workshop facilities for his collection and has recently fitted new front wheel bearings, discs and pads and new polybushes for the front suspension arms. The underside of the car is especially clean, helped by the fact that it has spent most of its life tucked away and certainly has never seen rain during the current ownership. This Sierra Cosworth would be an ideal example for those who want a very clean example for far less than an equivalent condition and mileage example without a patch on its history. Supplied to auction with an MoT test certificate valid until June 2026, with zero advisories and this looks like a very attractive way into Sierra Cosworth ownership. Consigned by Fraser Smith
