Thinking of buying a used Mitsubishi ASX?

Cazoo has a range of Mitsubishi ASX cars for sale. If you're thinking of buying or financing a used Mitsubishi ASX, we answer any questions you might have below.

The style of the car

The Mitsubishi ASX is a compact five-door crossover SUV with distinctive off-roader looks. It has the small dimensions of a family hatchback so it’s easy to drive in the city but it can also tackle rutted off-road tracks. All models get alloy wheels and stylish chrome trim, while those built from 2019 onwards feature bright LED headlamps.

How it drives

With its light steering, high ride height and excellent visibility, the ASX is easy to drive and feels as comfortable in town as it does on long motorway journeys. Soft suspension soaks up bumps but the ASX leans less in corners than other SUVs. Four-wheel drive models offer extra control in slippery conditions and make very good tow cars. The petrol and diesel engines are quiet and efficient and, while the standard manual gearbox is smooth and precise, the automatic is a great choice for city driving.

The interior

The five-door and five-seat ASX is spacious for such a compact car. There’s good head and legroom for those in the back, while the driver can adjust their seat in several directions. The big 442-litre boot has a flat floor for easy loading and will hold three large suitcases. 2018 ASXs are available in Juro and Black trims, with both getting air con, sat nav and Apple CarPlay. In 2019 these were renamed the Dynamic and Exceed. Prior to 2018, the ASX was available in five trims, the 2, 3, 4, 5 and a Black Edition with exclusive wheels and styling. All come with air con and Bluetooth. The ASX 3 adds heated front seats and the ASX 4 has leather trim and sat nav. The top of the range ASX 5 also has heated rear seats and a panoramic roof.

Running costs and reliability

The ASX undercuts its rivals on price, and features more standard equipment. All engines are efficient and while the diesels deliver the best fuel economy, they will only suit you if you cover over 12,000 miles a year. Tax, insurance and servicing costs are competitive. Mitsubishi is well known for being rugged and reliable and the ASX is additionally covered by the car maker’s impressive five-year warranty. It features lots of safety equipment and was awarded the full five stars by Euro NCAP.

How it compares with similar cars

The ASX is Mitsubishi’s entry-level SUV and is smaller and costs less than both the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and the Mitsubishi Outlander. It’s a more cost effective choice than the Nissan Qashqai and its four-wheel drive versions are more capable off-road than the Peugeot 3008.
