Thinking of buying a used Mercedes-Benz GLA?

Cazoo has a range of Mercedes-Benz GLA cars for sale. If you're thinking of buying or financing a used Mercedes-Benz GLA, we answer any questions you might have below.

The style of the car

The Mercedes-Benz GLA is a five-door crossover SUV with a higher ride height and a wider look than most hatchbacks. There are plenty of equipment levels ranging from luxury to sporty as well as the high performance GLA45 AMG version.

How it drives

The Mercedes-Benz GLA is available in two-wheel drive or ‘4Matic’ all-wheel drive, the latter providing a more assured drive with better grip when you need it. There are a variety of petrol and diesel engines to suit your needs, all delivering a good combination of power and economy. Ride comfort is very good and the higher ground clearance allows you to venture a little off-road. Being smaller than an SUV, it’s as easy to park, especially as it has parking sensors and a reversing camera. The more powerful engines are good for towing.

The interior

The Mercedes-Benz GLA is slightly smaller than the BMW X1 and Audi Q3. Interior space provides enough room for five adults and the five-door layout provides easy access. The boot offers ample space for a few suitcases or sports gear. All models look the part and the AMG-Line versions are more sporty-looking.

Running costs and reliability

The Mercedes-Benz GLA generally costs less than rivals like the BMW X1. Two-wheel drive diesels are really economical, and insurance and road tax costs are comparable with rivals across the range, as are servicing charges. Reliability is reasonable while safety is superb with a five-star Euro NCAP rating.

How the Mercedes-Benz GLA compares with similar cars

The GLA is the SUV version of the A-Class hatchback.  It looks and feels more like a regular hatchback than rivals like the Audi Q3 and BMW X1. It’s a good looking car which is one of the reasons why readers of German magazine Auto Zeitung gave it a Best SUV Design award.

Mercedes-Benz GLA common questions

The GLA’s compact size and off-roader styling make it a great choice for those looking for something different from a regular hatchback or an SUV.

Reliability is generally good for the GLA.

Running costs are similar to rivals but fuel consumption can be lower than SUV competitors.

The compact size makes the GLA as easy to live with as a hatchback with slightly more everyday practicality.

It’s a great compact crossover without having to go for a full-size SUV such as the BMW X1 or Audi Q3.
