The style of the car
The IS 300 is a four-door family saloon that combines interesting design with excellent build quality. Its stylish look and feel rivals more expensive premium cars. All versions have sleek bodywork, chrome trim and alloy wheels.
How it drives
Light steering and a smooth automatic gearbox make the IS 300 easy to drive around town. A focus on comfort and luxury help make long journeys more relaxing. Rear-wheel drive and powerful engines mean it’s good fun and F Sport models have an even sportier feel. The petrol-electric hybrid engines blend energetic performance with great fuel efficiency, and can also drive in zero-emission electric mode for short distances.
The interior
The Lexus has lots of space for the driver and passengers, with good legroom in the back. Three medium sized suitcases can be fitted into the 450-litre boot. The IS 300 is very well-equipped, with even entry-level SE models getting climate control, while Luxury trim adds sat nav and a large infotainment screen. Sport models have specially designed seats and dashboard, while Advance and Executive versions add leather trim and heated seats. F Sport cars feature sports seats and top-of-the-range Premier adds luxuries such as a 10 speaker Mark Levinson stereo.
Running costs and reliability
The IS 300 costs less to buy than rivals and has more standard equipment. The hybrid engines are fuel efficient and have low tax bills. Lexus offers good value prepaid servicing plans, while insurance costs are similar to rivals. The car maker has a fantastic reputation for reliability, finishing top of the JD Power dependability study seven years in a row. The IS 300 is also safe and was awarded five stars by Euro NCAP.
