Thinking of buying a used BMW X1?

Cazoo has a range of BMW X1 cars for sale. If you're thinking of buying or financing a used BMW X1, we answer any questions you might have below.

The style of the car

The BMW X1 is a compact five-door sports utility vehicle that’s spacious and practical. Its modern, stylish design is certainly eye-catching and  M-Sport models enhance its typically sporty BMW nature.

How it drives

The BMW X1 is a great SUV to drive. Like most BMW models it’s as adept at providing a fun drive as it is cruising over long distances on the motorway. Superb petrol and diesel engines deliver impressive performance even when towing and the car’s compact size makes it a good choice for those driving regularly in town. It’s easy to park with plenty of sensors and a reversing camera.

The interior

The BMW X1 is similar in size to rivals like the Audi Q3 and is compact enough to cope with city environments. All models feature five doors and have space for up to five adults. Boot space is good with room for plenty of suitcases and holdalls. Some models have useful storage spaces that stop items from moving around. The interior is well designed providing lots of comfort as well as useful technology. This includes the comprehensive infotainment system that can be controlled using the simple iDrive control dial.

Running costs and reliability

The BMW X1 costs around the same to buy used as its rivals the Audi Q3 and Mercedes GLA. Running costs such as insurance and road tax are similar too. Diesel engines deliver the best fuel consumption figures although the petrol engines are almost as efficient. Servicing and maintenance costs are comparable with other premium SUVs. The X1 has a good reputation for reliability and it received a maximum five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.

How it compares with similar cars

The BMW X1 is the brand’s entry-level SUV and, while smaller than the BMW X3, it’s still spacious inside with lots of technology and comfort. It’s more enjoyable to drive than the Audi Q3 and is more of a traditional shaped SUV than the more hatchback-based Mercedes GLA. It’s won a number of international awards from the likes of Motor Trend magazine.
