Poor service, arranged to travel up to look at a van, it’s a 2 hour trip, he said call an hour before you arrive, so we did, no answer, we kept trying no answer arrived at the garage no one there and still not answering the phone. In today’s climate with fuel costs this was an expensive lesson and if it saves someone else from having the same experience then all good. Plus when we looked at the van as it was on the forecourt it was not as described and the back door was left open. Oh well if he had answered his phone I would have told him. Avoid this garage if you have any distance to travel
Initially he seemed a nice guy prior to the sale... I bought a 2015 VW T5 Sportline from Darlton Motors as a distance sale and had it delivered. Very soon afterwards I found oil leaks and raised this with Darren. He told me to put cardboard under the car over night to confirm it was oil from this vehicle. The first advice I was given was to wash the engine myself with a jet wash to try and work out where the oil was coming from, i refused because i have no idea about engines so i went to my local mechanic tld Darren this and he wasnt happy and told me to get 2nd opinion. I did exactly that and paid for an independent diagnostic, at Darrens request and him saying he will reinburse the costs (still hasnt \xa3144) which confirmed multiple faults and a repair estimate in excess of \xa34,500. Once the scale of the issues became clear, I was then told by Darren the work should not be carried out locally under the warranty I had paid for, and instead that I should return the van to Manchester because he had his own VW technician who would deal with it. (The one who gave the vehicle the ok and go ahead to sell knowing it had these faults and I was meant to then trust this process) So I ended up spending more time and money proving the vehicle had serious issues, only for the position to keep changing. What made this worse was being told it was “fine” for me to drive the vehicle back to Manchester despite the faults, the oil leaks, warning lights and the clear mechanical issues already identified. I live in Northampton, so this is not a quick local trip. It is a significant journey, not something I could realistically do and get back from in one day, especially with children. That would have meant either risking driving an unsafe vehicle a long distance or arranging accommodation, then travelling back the next day, all at my own expense. Even after the vehicle was rejected, I was repeatedly told to return it myself rather than the dealer arranging collection(we are now about 8 weeks on and he still is refusing to collect the vehicle and wants me to pay for it) The van was made available for collection, but this dragged on for weeks while I am still left dealing with tax, insurance and the practical problem of where to keep it. I also had to argue over reimbursement of the independent diagnostic that I had been told to obtain in the first place. The whole experience is exhausting, expensive and unnecessarily stressful. Instead of dealing with the faults properly and promptly, I felt like I was constantly being pushed into more inconvenience, more cost and more risk. In the end I had to involve multiple credit card providers to investigate and recover the money. My advice to anyone considering buying from here is to be extremely cautious, especially if you are buying at distance. Get everything in writing, do not rely on verbal assurances, and get an independent inspection as early as possible. And I would not recommend buying from here! It's been an awful experience with little to no communication from the garage and he only replies to my messages to tell me he isn't collecting and I have to take it to him!.. Avoid the stress and head ache... tis wouldn't have been an issue if he just took responsibility and refunded me and collected the vehicle as he sold faulty goods and I rejected it but then this behaviour after is disgusting and unprofessional would you trust a vehicle from someone that treats you this way when they're in the wrong.
I bought a van off Darren in October 23. It was a former BT van. It did the job. I returned last week ( Feb 26) and not only did he sell me a smart replacement van, he took the old one off my hands too. Throughout the whole process Darren was professional and helpful. He answered every call and query through the process, which for someone not in the car trade, can be a tad stressful. I would not hesitate in recommending him and his team. Thanks guys, Steve Mannion.
I purchased a Renault master from Darren in January at a very competitive price, it was prepared to a very high standard but developed a couple of faults, which nobody could have predicted, Darren was fantastic, clearly priding himself on caring about customer satisfaction and service. Upon his instruction, I had the truck diagnosed and repaired locally in a very timely manner. I cannot praise him enough and have no hesitation in highly recommended him for your vehicle purchase from him.
Absolutely shocking service from start to finish Van was not fit for purpose loads of faults to many to go into Ford advice me to return and after a 2 month fight with daren tbe owner and countless lies from him we managed to get the van back but still left us out of pocket by a \xa31000 in all my years of buying cars and vans this is by far the worst experience ive had . To top it of just woke up to a tax reminder this morning for the van what was took back over a month ago Guys really I wouldn't touch these with a barge pole They also promise to pick the van up because it wasn't road worthy but got let down twice Then darren said I think you will be fine to drive it back to him over 100 miles away so that was another days money lost for us and guess what they couldn't be bothered to wait for us and closed the showroom 10 minutes before we got there . This list goes on I would be here all day if I had to list everything that went on it was that bad milage was also advertised incorrect on this van . Take your money elsewhere guys Thank me latter
