Fitted with a RS2000 engine - Targa rally carHistoric vehicle - Tax and MoT exemptThe 1965 Ford Cortina De Luxe was part of the first generation of Fords highly successful Cortina line - a family car designed for practicality, economy, and style. Built by Ford of Britain, it became one of the most popular cars of the 1960s. It was a mid-range trim level of the Mk. I Cortina, offering a balance between affordability and comfort. It featured distinctive styling with clean, angular lines and a slightly American-influenced design, reflecting Fords international aesthetic of the time. The 1965 Cortina De Luxe represents the golden age of British motoring - a practical, well-built, and stylish small saloon that helped define everyday driving in the 1960s. Its simplicity, reliability, and charm have made it a beloved classic among vintage car enthusiasts today. This much modified, fast road specification example, was originally registered as a Ford Cortina 1200cc De Luxe model, however, it is now fitted with a Ford RS2000 engine mated to a Type 9 gearbox with short shift box, single leaf suspension and stainless-steel exhaust. It also has a rear anti roll bar, new battery, disc brakes, engine cut off and sits on a set of Minilite alloy wheels but still retains its original rear bench seat! It comes with a Haynes Owners Handbook and various past MoT test certificates but advantageously, this is now tax and MoT exempt and presents very well as a historic vehicle pocket rocket!
